Hyliion is looking for a Manager Control System Integration to join our engineering team in Austin. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the trucking industry. We are seeking exceptionally talented individuals that are highly motivated to revolutionize an industry, reduce the use of fuel and have some fun.  You will be joining an experienced engineering team in the design, simulation, implementation and testing of electrical powertrain systems. Reports to VP of Control and Software Engineering

  • Lead the control system integration, calibration, and verification activities for Hyliion class-8 electrification products
  • Lead the design, implementation, and verification of control interface for hybrid powertrain control, thermal management, HMI, Cloud Connectivity, and the control of a variety of hardware components
  • Build Control system integration team to support Hyliion’s growth
  • Establish software verification process that comply with ISO26262 and ASPICE development methodology, as we drive electrification into the Class 8 trucking world
  • Lead the selection and development of toolsets, instrumentation and test equipment supporting the current and future software integration and verification needs
  • Support Hyliion’s broad software initiatives including back-end, front-end and core value algorithms for hybrid and fully electric products
  • Work with outside engineering partners to delegate and track work packets while in parallel continuing to build the Hyliion software and controls team
  • Apply automotive software development experience to ensure robust, seamless integration leading to certification of Hyliion products for class 8 truck applications
  • Responsible for all software aspects of product certification
  • Support the creation of key APQP documents including FMEAs and DVP&Rs to drive product software reliability and robustness
  • Support hardware products team to ensure that products meet functional, durability and cost targets

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Experience with:
    • Battery Technologies & BMS
    • ADAS systems
    • Electrified Components including Motors and Motor Controllers
    • Conventional powertrain and OBD
    • AUTOSAR
    • ISO 26262
    • Software Processes and Quality Assurance (e.g., ASPICE or CMMi)
    • Software Requirements Management
    • Software Design and Automation
    • Software Testing Methods for Embedded Systems (MiL, SiL, PiL, RCP)
    • Security and Security Management Methods
    • J1939
    • Diagnostics / Prognostics
    • Cloud
    • Agile V-Model
    • Model based function implementation and integration
  • Experienced with cloud services and API’s, particularly REST API’s
  • Experience with communications protocols like CAN, USB, ethernet, TCP/IP
  • Understanding of networking and networked-computing concepts is required; specifically, synchronization, race conditions and debugging communication protocols
  • Competency with modern collaboration tools (like Slack, Jira Service Desk)
  • Experienced with Atlassian products including Confluence, Jira and Bitbucket
  • Experienced with the agile development process
  • Expert in developing high-level software architectures
  • APQP toolsets including FMEAs and DVP&R
  • Strong follow-through and self-starting nature
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions
  • Position will involve travel visiting engineering providers and hardware suppliers
  • Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines
  • Ability to positively and effectively communicate with customers (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments

Required Qualifications:

  • 10-years’experience in an automotive electrification environment
  • Master’s degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, feel, or reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
