Hyliion is looking for a Manager of Hybrid Control Engineering to join our engineering team in Austin. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the trucking industry. You will be joining an experienced engineering team in the design, simulation, implementation and testing of electrical powertrain systems. Report to VP of Controls and Software Engineering

• Lead the development of Hyliion’s hybrid control strategy and software products for Class-8 truck applications
• Lead performance improvement in power assist and fuel saving through rigorous data analysis and set development priorities for product execution in all Hyliion powertrain architectures
• Develop new control concept for Hyliion’s powertrain and drivetrain solutions to deliver industry leading performance and vehicle range
• Lead the qualification and testing of new vehicle control systems
• Build controls team to support Hyliion’s growth
• Develop control/calibration methodology for multiple Hyliion electrification products to enable a separate calibration team to maximize vehicle performance
• Work with outside engineering partners to delegate and track work packets while in parallel continuing to build the capabilities of Hyliion’s controls team
• Represent Hyliion and present technical papers at key industry conferences

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Competency with modern collaboration tools (like Slack, Jira Service Desk)
• Experienced with Atlassian products including Confluence, Jira and Bitbucket
• Experienced with the agile development process
• Expert in developing high-level software architectures

• Strong follow-through and self-starting nature
• Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions
• Position will involve travel visiting engineering providers and hardware suppliers
• Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines
• Ability to positively and effectively communicate with customers (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments

Required Qualifications:

• 10 years experience in an automotive electrification environment
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline

• Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, feel, or reach with hands and arms
• Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision
