An accessible, formal housing supply is simply non-existent for the majority of the world, leaving over 330 million households without adequate shelter. The iBUILD platform offers an elegant fintech solution that empowers an untapped workforce to transact in a secure, transparent environment, with customers, lenders, architects and suppliers linked together in a powerful hybrid value chain. iBUILD formalizes and demystifies the construction process so that large scale developers and financial institutions, as well as the informal masses are all able to track and manage their resources through an end-to-end solution for housing construction, transforming an unorganized marketplace into a vibrant transparent ecosystem.

We are a funded, rapidly-growing fintech startup. Our engineering team is distributed: currently we are in Silicon Valley, CA; Northeast US; Austin, TX; and Kenya. This position is in Austin, TX.

About the Role

We are looking for a key early hire: a full-stack engineer to work on our mobile and web clients. While the focus of this role is front-end (mobile and web) we are looking for someone who enjoys taking a systems perspective. You enjoy thinking not just about the client you are responsible for, but about the entire system. You would expect to have the entire system running on your laptop, and know just enough of backend technologies and databases to (be dangerous, and to) understand how the whole system fits together. You understand that optimizing individual components in isolation is not a good use of your time.

We are not beholden to specific technologies: we are interested people with experience in web technologies, HTML5mobile web apps, Cordova/Ionic apps, iOS, and Android apps. You’ll like be more excited about working with React than Angular, say, while also having the seasoning to understand the folly of chasing after shiny objects.

We like to think that we have taste, both artistically and in terms of code. We strive to build beautiful things, whether it be a UX or a simple (but not necessarily easy) solution to a vexing problem.

Being a distributed team, both verbal and written communications skills are critical.

We like to move fast and experience working in an agile environment is a plus. We are not dogmatic about specific Agile practices, we prefer “people over process”. As we are small and growing very quickly, a desire to build, own and maintain large parts systems is a huge plus.
