Core responsibilities:

  • Lead challenging engagements that assess the security of modern and complex cloud stacks
  • Work with customers, provide subject matter expertise, and leave their security better than when we found it
  • Optimize existing cloud offerings, update our methodologies and deliverables, and help grow the skillsets of the team
  • Generate thought leadership that helps establish Praetorian as the premier cloud security company
  • Provide technical mentorship to less experienced engineers and help improve team tradecraft, techniques, and tooling
  • Assist in interviewing, qualifying, and generating excitement in top candidates who are considering Praetorian 

Required qualifications:

  • 15+ years of cybersecurity experience
  • Experience leading and mentoring technical teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with threat modeling and asset risk analysis
  • Demonstrated expertise in the core software, hardware, and/or cloud attack and defense patterns
  • Familiarity with security design patterns, blueprints, and architectures
  • Experience with cutting-edge cloud stacks and modern security technologies
  • BS in computer science, engineering, physics, or mathematics

Desired qualifications:

  • Track record in vulnerability research and CVE assignments
  • Track record presenting at major and respectable conferences
  • Referenceable body of patentable innovation and/or published papers
  • An up-to-date knowledge base of current academic and security industry research
  • Background in reverse engineering, binary analysis, and vulnerability research
  • Background in operating systems, embedded systems, and distributed systems
  • Background in machine learning, predictive/descriptive statistical data analysis, and neural networks
  • MS or Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, physics, or mathematics

If this position is wildly successful, in one year you will have:

  • Successfully delivered engineering milestones under a rotational program
  • Published 80% of developed capabilities to move the industry forward
  • Achieved 25% or greater service engagement utilization
  • Achieved 85% or greater net promotor score

Compensation & Benefits:

Targeted Base Salary:

  • Annual Base of 180K - 200K
  • To account for a higher cost of living areas, we have modified our salaries for the following metropolitan areas:
    • Seattle: 208K - 232K
    • New York: 217K - 242K 
    • Boston: 189K - 210K 
    • Washington DC: 189K - 210K
  • San Francisco: 239K - 266K
