Principal Software Engineer
The Role:
AlertMedia is looking for a Principal Software Engineer with full-stack experience with highly scalable SaaS solutions. In this role, you will work with the Engineering team to grow and scale the Alertmedia platform. The Principal Software Engineer is responsible for working with a team to design and build robust solutions to support our customers. They propose and drive architecture changes as the product feature set, and the customer base grows and evolves.
Who you are:
- You have an extensive background in architecting, building, and supporting large-scale SaaS systems
- You have in-depth knowledge of at least one SaaS platform – AWS (preferred), Google, or Azure
- You have stories to tell about scaling large SaaS systems to handle a fast-growing number of customers and users – both failures and successes
- Working in a collaborative environment energizes you; you love brainstorming with a team to surface the best ideas to solve a problem
- You enjoy mentoring engineers, eagerly sharing your knowledge
- You care about quality. You promote and engage in software development practices that contribute to quality software, including code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing
- You keep up with emerging trends and new solutions with an eye towards making a product more scalable, supportable, and better for our customers

What you will do:
- Become an expert in the AlertMedia platform and tools, and its uses for our customers
- Work with Python, Django, AngularJS, React, Javascript, Node and other web technologies to deliver leading software solutions in the mass communications space
- Design and develop within a highly scalable infrastructure that handles millions of users
- Provide technical guidance in planning and executing assigned projects
- Develop new systems and maintain and modify existing systems when required
- Participate in project analysis, design, implementations phases
- Use strong verbal and written communication skills and help lead other engineering and product teams
- Contribute to AlertMedia's culture, values and vision for the future
Requirements:
- 10 years or more experience writing production software
- 3 years or more in an Engineering team leadership role
- 5 or more years designing, building, and supporting highly scalable SaaS systems, AWS preferred
- Direct experience building RESTful services
- Direct experience with database systems, including relational and NoSQL databases
