Whole Foods Market has embarked on transformational Supply Chain & Merchandising initiatives that will deliver market leading capabilities to our company. We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our IT Supply Chain and Merchandising team located in Austin, TX. As a QAE you will execute and maintain software and automation scripts across Supply Chain and Merchandising applications. You will engage with experienced cross-disciplinary teams to design and develop innovative consumer products.
You are expected to have industry-leading technical abilities that enable you to significantly improve product quality, and solid in-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance.
QAE’s test code at the user level, manually and with automated tools. Our QAE’s are able to understand software internals, debug problems using log files, and write automated tests. QAE’s work with Software Development Engineers to understand features and technical implementation. QAE’s also work with SDETs to understand the test automation needs of the team and build the necessary infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities

• First and foremost, you are an engineer and full stack tester (Data-Services-UI) and solve problems through automation
• Work with the team to add and refine acceptance criteria and the definition of done for user stories
• Find edge cases and create negative and exploratory testing
• Designing and performing end-to-end tests
• Prepare data and scripts necessary for automated, and manual testing
• Find defects and work directly with the team to create fixes and validate new tests
• Creating and running automated tests to enable continuous integration and continuous deployment
• Ability to understand technical specifications and analyze log files
• Ability to translate use cases and/or technical specifications into test cases
• Ongoing education and learning of new programming techniques and technology

Basic Qualifications

• BE in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience of minimum 5 years
• 5+ years of strong, demonstrable experience working as an engineer
• 3+ years of experience developing high quality test strategies and test automation
• 2+ years of experience in UI testing in an Angular/React web application
• 2+ years of experience with the .NET Framework or Java
• 2+ years of experience and exposure to Selenium framework
• Experience with AWS technologies including ECS, EC2, S3, CloudFormation
• Experience working in CI/CD environment
• Comfort with the full Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence) and Postman
• Thorough understanding of QA methodologies, life cycle and processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Javascript and other scripting languages
• Ability to affectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
• Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly
• Experience in API testing
• Shows creativity and initiative to improve product coverage and effectiveness
• Ability to understand technical specifications and analyze log files
• Effectively communicate cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings
• Strong organizational skills, tracking multiple test executions simultaneously and are able to synthesize the results
