Hyliion is looking for a Senior Engineer – OEM1 Applications to support our engineering team in Austin. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the trucking industry. We are seeking exceptionally talented individuals that are highly motivated to revolutionize an industry, reduce the use of fuel and have some fun. You will be joining an experienced engineering team and participate in the design, simulation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical powertrain systems, embedded systems, and their subsystems.

•    Lead Engineering activities to support operations team o    Hardware & software specifications
o    Custom solution designs
o    Validation and Sign-Off plans
o    Diagnostics & 8Ds
o    Key documentation including installation manuals

•    Lead Engineering activities to support Business Development team including
o    Assessing customer vehicle specifications and developing hardware specificationfor Hyliion kit
o    Identifying compatibility issues with target applications
o    Communication with customers when needed
o    Work with business development team to Interpret customer requirements anddevelop system and sub-system product specifications
•    Design and development of mechanical systems for electrification applications
•    Creation of 3D models and associated prints using GD&T
•    Ensure that final product meets all necessary safety compliance requirements
•    Lead FEA for custom solutions when necessary
•    Support the vehicle sign-off post installation and Hyliion or third-party installers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•    Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
•    Competency with Microsoft Office Suite
•    Proven expert in automotive industry and associated toolset expertise (FMEAs, DVP&Rs)
•    High & low volume manufacturing experience
•    Understanding of automotive powertrain systems including  both traditional and
 
hybrid
•    Understanding of vibration (including modal, random, static, and sinusoidal) and vibration reduction strategies highly advantageous
•    Experience in battery design, function, and safety
•    Experience in electrical and wiring systems
•    Experience in A/C systems preferred
•    Ability to read, understand and generate electrical manufacturing documentation
•    Strong follow-through and self-starting nature
•    Ability to communicate verbally effectively and positively and in writing with customers (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments
•    Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions
•    Position will involve travel (10% of time) to visit customers in the field
•    Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines
•    Willingness and ability to work more than 8 hours a day to ensure that deadlines are achieved weekly hours may regularly be between 45-50 during busy time periods

Required Qualifications:
•    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
•    >5 Years' Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
•    Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering

•    Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
•    The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive
 
reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

Work Environment:
•    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
•    For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional equipment as found in a typical office
