Senior Mechanical Designer

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to join this special engineering team in Cedar Park, Texas. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of a nimble company that is revolutionizing the trucking industry. Essential Job Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Create CAD Solid Models of assemblies and parts with direction from engineers.
- Create Space Claims for modules that are being developed for implementation.
- Create high-quality CAD models of advanced designs, such as injection-molded, cast, and forged parts including engineering GD&T prints.
- Produce Mechanical Designs such as battery energy storage mounting/containment, engine mounting, Air Conditioning (A/C) component placements, transmission/motor mounting/integration, CNG tubing routing, and similar.
- Produce Electrical Design aspects such as electrical wiring harnesses and cable routing, circuit board mounting, and wire list documentation.
- Develop robust design solutions mindful of performance, durability, and costs.
- Submit solid models and STEP files to vendors for Rapid Prototyping.
- Maintain documentation revision status and print configuration while in development.
- Contribute to suitable off-the-shelf components and integration of various sub-systems.
- Add Safety Data Sheets (SDS) information and obtain approval for new materials.
- Support hand-off transitions to production as necessary (DVP&R’s, APQP, FMEA’s, validation).
- Follow Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Expert in CREO and Autodesk products.
- Expert in system mechanical layout and assemblies.
- Expert in advanced 3D part design and surface modeling.
- Expert in GD&T and print checking.
- Knowledge of Rapid Prototyping of plastic and metal parts.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Understanding of the class 8 truck environment and how this influences the hardware design and packaging decisions.
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong follow-through and self-starting nature
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of Associates Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design from an accredited institution of higher education.
- 6+ Years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Expert CAD Designer
- Experience in automotive powertrain systems including both traditional and hybrid.
- Vehicle Electrification Experience
- Experience in battery design
- Experience in A/C systems
- Experience in electrical and wiring systems.
