The Data Platform team at RetailMeNot is responsible for developing and maintaining the analytics pipeline that collects data across all our platforms as well as building new services to allow for faster and more efficient data processing. On a daily basis we collect over 600GB of analytics events and process hundreds of terabytes of data. Our team works quickly to deliver new features for real-time and batch processing services. We leverage primarily AWS cloud services and Kubernetes to build and deploy services quickly, at scale and with no downtime.

In this role, you will be working closely with our data science and data warehouse teams to create large scale services for processing and serving data. You will have exposure to a wide breadth of applications that will challenge you to balance specific consumption patterns against broader architectural concerns.

Who You Are

• You have experience developing scalable and sustainable production APIs and backend services
• You are familiar with common patterns, issues, limitations, and solutions that are seen when dealing with large datasets
• You show a proven understanding and application of computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
• You are using AWS and are proficient with AWS services
• You are skilled in building consensus with a team to get everyone committed to delivering a larger vision than they could execute on their own
• You have an ownership mentality and hold yourself accountable for your work
• You have great communication and collaboration skills
• CS Degree or equivalent field of study

What You'll Do

• You will lead design and development of complex platforms to enable us to process and serve data more efficiently
• You will work with Data Science and Data Warehouse to investigate how we can evolve our services to improve our data processing
• You will mentor others on the team and in the engineering organization about data best practices
• You will consistently improve maintainability and stability of our codebases
• You will research and recommend new technologies to enable us to iterate more quickly. Some technologies we are currently using: Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Kinesis, AWS Lambda, ElastiCache, Redshift, Python, Java, Clojure
