The Role

Site Reliability Engineering builds tools, processes, and develops code that leads directly to customer satisfaction. In order to keep services reliable and available, this role will involve being on-call at times.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work as part of a highly agile team, taking part in the full spectrum of team activities including planning, design, implementation, validation, and retrospection. 
  • Become familiar with the ForgeRock Identity Platform, working together with engineering teams and leadership in order to achieve our strategic goals.
  • Focus on operating and automating our as-a-service offerings by developing software, incorporating services and leveraging tools. The availability and security of our service will be of paramount importance in your role. Expect to be keeping an ever-watchful eye on latency, performance and capacity.
  • Establish relationships, guide practices, overcome complex challenges, and learn each day how best to shape emerging technologies to produce highly reliable, scalable, and supportable solutions.
  • Jump in and improve the whole lifecycle of services - from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement.
  • Deliver successful services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, security hardening, capacity and launch reviews.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health, understanding trends and capabilities of the service.
  • Improve systems sustainably using automation and evolve systems by leading changes that increase availability and velocity.
  • Participate in incident response, on-call rotations, and blameless retrospectives with the goal of discovering the best approach to prevent future occurrences of the same issue.
  • Ability to say No. With clear, understandable conclusions backed by data that show the business the rationale and how to move forward appropriately.

If you find yourself checking off most of the below, this could be the position for you!

  • A background in running mission-critical services in production
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes concepts and associated tools such as Kustomize
  • Knowledge of latest Cloud compute technologies, load balancing and scaling, storage, networking, security and virtualization technologies, including administering or operating on cloud-based platforms such as Amazon AWS EC2, Microsoft Azure and Google GCP
  • Exposure to incident response processes and scenarios
  • Knowhow with orchestration tools such as Chef, Puppet, Vagrant, Ansible, Terraform
  • Use of one or more programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.
  • Comfortable with Agile development methodologies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Linux/UNIX system administration.
  • Use of modern CI/CD tools for delivery and automation
