Software Development Engineer III

As a Software Development Engineer III in Expedia Group’s Platform & Marketplaces Lodging Supply Connectivity team, you will translate requirements into code, perform testing and debugging tasks, and develop software in conjunction with peers and mentors in a small team environment. Expect to become an integral part of the team, communicating regularly with your teammates, and adhere to software engineering processes established by the team. As you gain in experience and knowledge, you will be encouraged to propose improvements to designs and processes.

This position in on the critical path for our API first initiative. We are looking to augment our API offering to match those of our competitors and reach parity with Partner Central. We are building a unified partner API platform that will allow domains to externalize their capabilities.

This person will contribute to areas such as GraphQL composition, reporting, metrics, production readiness, authorization or any other. This person will also work with domain teams to bridge the gap between our internal domain and the partner space to help them externalize their capabilities.

What you’ll do:

• You will develop, debug, and modify components of software applications and tools

• You will resolve problems and roadblocks with help from peers and/or managers. Follow through on details and drive issues to closure

• You will actively participate as a key team member in code and design reviews

• You will serve as an expert for a given domain

• You will mentor other engineers

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or related technical field and/or equivalent work experience with Strong communication skills

• Experience using code versioning tools (e.g. Git) and Agile development methodology

• 5+ years’ experience in software development in a team environment (work experience or school projects)

• Solid experience in Java or other object-oriented languages (e.g. Python, C#, C++, etc.)

• Basic understanding or strong willingness to learn: RESTful Micro Services, GraphQL, Java, .NET, Kotlin and Scala programming languages, JavaScript/JQuery, React, NodeJS, QUnit (or JavaScript Unit testing), Jetty, Spring Boot, Maven or Gradle, AWS Services, Event Driven architecture using Kafka

• Working knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL DBs
