Software Development Engineer III

Expedia Group is seeking a hardworking Software Development Engineer III to join our Reliability Engineering Operations (REO) Operational Excellence Team in Austin. Our team is responsible for crafting products to seek customer's Failed Interactions in real time, provide Financial Impact Analysis of any outages/incidents and drive Excellence in Monitoring and Alerting process. We handle products that provide real time booking trends and Operational View for Expedia Group brands. Believe in having fun with your co-workers, while working together on the team.

What you'll do:

• As a Software Development Engineer, you propose, prototype, design and implement various components of the Operational Excellence platform in partnership with teams across the world

• You will build data pipelines to automate batch and real-time data delivery through streaming data platform to Data lakes, Analytical and Machine-Learning applications

• You will provide the thought leadership and technical expertise needed to overcome hard problems

• You will build and support critical components of products/platforms at scale that will play a critical part in driving outstanding Operational Excellence within our applications

• You will seek a wide range of sophisticated software and system issues that will require a deep understanding of the application architecture, software engineering, and deployment infrastructure

• As part of our continuous learning culture, you will have the opportunity to participate in exciting company Hackathon's and various career building courses with co-workers of all levels of expertise

Who you are:

• 5+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and shipping large scale enterprise e-commerce applications and Object-Oriented Programming (Java\Scala Preferred)

• 2+ years of experience with Streaming/Messaging applications

• Experience with RESTful Services

• Solid understanding of Databases like MySQL, Postgres, InfluxDB

• Problem solver and an excellent coder with deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, distributed applications, and data modeling

• Knowledge of Design Patterns and ability to quickly pick-up new technologies, languages with ease

• Good to have - Docker, Jenkins & Python
