Software Development Lead
ABOUT THIS POSITION
We’re looking for a Software Development Lead to lead the development team responsible for our Aceable ecommerce websites. Your team’s focus is driven on skilled, front-end Javascript as well as full-stack development as we continue to grow across Driving, Real Estate, and educational verticals to come. You will work with the Marketing team to help us improve our existing sites and launch new ones. You are an experienced, technical engineer who is ready to take on a leadership role and continue to grow. With the passion to grow into a people manager, you are a strategic thinker who will be able to be an architect across our many products and you will lead the roadmap for success for the eCommerce Dev team.

ABOUT YOUR NEW TEAM
You will work closely with our marketing, product, and analytics teams to deliver a high-converting, fast, reliable array of transactional websites. You will lead teams who maintain and improve our platforms, landing pages, technical SEO, and shopping cart experiences. As part of the larger Engineering group, you will have the chance to help your peers achieve their development goals, collaborate on cross-department initiatives, and stay on the cutting edge of programming technologies.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead geographically distributed teams (offsite team members and local team members)
- Be a contributing partner to the product management and eCommerce/Marketing teams
- Architect a platform that serves as the foundation for building all other web sites
- Facilitate project planning through working with product management, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other scrum related meetings
- Use cutting edge tools and libraries in production, including static hosting, Vue, Nuxt, ES2018, and headless CMSes
- Communicate with developers and product managers on user stories as well as level of effort estimation
- Ensure the development teams are practicing core Agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
- Assist with prioritization and resolution of defects and bugs
- Participate proactively in developing and maintaining team standards, tools, and best practices
- Manage and report team success against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) via regular operations and business reviews
- Ability to roll up your sleeves and contribute technically to the team, when applicable, to improve our products
- Take a critical leadership role in our incident management process, ensuring a timely resolution and proper actions are taken in response
- Report to key stakeholder in our post incident retrospective, contributing to authoring customer incident reports and ensuring the remediation steps are completed on target and on time
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 7+ years of web development experienceLeadership / management of software development team
- Comfort building in Vue, React, or other front end Javascript frameworks
- Experience navigating high-level front end Javascript problems and integrations
- Relevant history managing Wordpress or other CMSes
- Mastery of integrating with third party APIs
- Experience with responsive design, website templating, and style languages
- Ability to lead and thrive in a collaborative team environment
- An open and engaged attitude when it comes to learning
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail; mission-critical production support experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience in working effectively in leading a team
- Drive to take initiative and own issues; Planning and coordination in a multi-project environment
- Passion to stay on the cutting edge of programming technologies
- Experience leading, motivating, and mentoring fast moving, highly-skilled engineering team; adept at navigating and improving both social and technical systems
- Comfortable identifying technical and process-related shortcomings, and who can lay out a vision to fix them, and isn’t afraid to institute change by experimentation

- Prior experience with eCommerce/website
- Asp.net experience
- Nod.js and Express
- SPA/pure JS front ends
- Stripe/Paypal and other payment providers
- Modern tooling environments (Webpack, Babel, etc.)
