Community Operations Engineering (COE) focuses on building, maintaining and enhancing the internal systems and tools that the Facebook operations team rely on to help resolve issues for our community and partners. Those who join this team are passionate about working with cross-functional teams to improve their operational efficiency through the development of tooling and infrastructure. This is your chance to join the team that helps build intelligent and efficient tooling to ensure that people who use and rely on Facebook have the best possible experiences. This role is based out of our Menlo Park, CA office.


  • Lead and motivate a team of talented software developers focused on operational systems

  • Ability to ensure high quality standards are met whilst balancing the fast paced nature of the environment

  • Driving accountability for systems deployment and monitoring

  • Help to shape thinking around robust, scalable technical solutions for thousands of Facebook employees

  • Provide guidance on implemented solutions with languages such as Java, JavaScript, React, PHP, Python and SQL

  • Provide data driven insights and operational reporting to cross-functional partners

  • Provide consultancy into peer engineering teams and product teams

  • Experiment with emerging Facebook technologies to develop future solutions

  • Report into the Director of Business Platform Operations and execute against agreed strategies for the group

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or 5+ years in a development environment

  • 6+ months of management experience

  • 5+ years experience in one or more of the core programming languages (Java, JavaScript, PHP, Python)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills

  • Exposure to C++

  • Excellent communication skills in English

  • Proven career in creating and management high performing teams

  • Building operational engineering teams
