We are delivering our engineering experience as a product. This means that we conduct user research, identify problems which need to be solved for our users, and obsess about delighting them with what we deliver. As part of this we are building an infrastructure as code platform (based on Terraform) which maximizes the opportunity for testing and emulates a software delivery lifecycle as nearly as possible.

We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer with expertise, ambition, and passion for delivering a best of breed cloud native platform. As a senior engineer, you will be experienced in developing scalable, well-tested, and maintainable kubernetes clusters which support APIs, applications / microservices. You will have experience of delivering an abstraction layer over cloud platforms and will understand some of the challenges which this presents. 

You embrace platform thinking, continuous integration, and test driven development in an infrastructure context. You will uphold or set the standard for engineering excellence partnering with architects, and a team of highly skilled software engineers who are creating and evolving the platform that will let us rapidly engineer at scale. You are extremely ambitious about applying devops principles to your work across the full technology stack.

You will have experience of software development outside of the infrastructure space and will be fluent in one or more development languages. You will feel comfortable developing system integration components in an agile way and following BDD and DevOps principles through that delivery.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

• You love the challenge of building a truly global cloud native platform that helps application teams deliver applications at speed.
• You will take ownership of a domain with our cloud platform, work with our product team to set the vision for its future and, in conjunction with architects and others in the team, build a roadmap of deliverables which bring us closer to that goal.
• You will have worked in environments which have a strict Infrastructure as code approach and be able to help us improve the coverage of our terraform implementation.
• Support teams throughout the business with their Infrastructure design, CI/CD, documentation and implementation by sharing your knowledge and skills, providing tooling and influencing best practices. Resulting in a force multiplier to the speed of development in the organization.
• Mentor and develop engineers with a raise the bar mindset - champion of engineering principles outlined for Babylonian engineering teams.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Experience with a good number of Terraform, Vault, Akeyless, Kubernetes, Flux, Istio, AWS, GCP, Azure, OpenStack, VMWare, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Artifactory, CircleCI, Quay.io, GitHub, CodeClimate, Contrast Secure, Chekov, Terraform Compliance, RunScope, Blazemeter, BlackDuck, Ubuntu, Logstash, FileBeat, AuditBeat, Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, Sentry, PagerDuty, DivvyCloud, Hugo, CrowdStrike, AlertLogic.
• Experience with microservices in Go, Java or Python.
• Experience developing a cloud native platform ideally using Terraform and BDD and TDD principles in infrastructure.
• Strong Domain Driven Design experience highly desirable.
