You’ll be a part of Cloudflare's Emerging Technology and Incubation team. This is where new, bold, products are built and released within Cloudflare. Rather than being constrained by the structures which make Cloudflare a successful business, we leverage our network to deliver entirely new tools and products to our customers. We operate with very small teams of highly motivated and experienced service, network and kernel engineers. We use whatever tools / technologies make sense to get the job done, currently this includes technologies such as Linux Containers, Golang, Consul, Nomad, and gVisor.What you'll do
You will play a crucial role in designing and building a secure container platform on Cloudflare’s edge compute network, with physical presence in over 200 cities worldwide. You will solve problems of massive scale and significance, shaping the future of security on the Internet.
We operate with small teams of highly motivated and experienced service, network and kernel engineers using whatever tools and technologies make sense to get the job done. Today, this includes:
- Hashicorp’s Nomad
While you can expect to spend most of your time in development and design, a large portion will also be spent digging into complex problems, including debugging third-party systems and recommending mitigations both immediate and long-term.
A qualified candidate has:
- Very strong experience with container systems such as docker, containerd, etc
- Building & deploying images
- Running and debugging containers
- Experience building applications in Golang
- Experience debugging complex systems through Linux debug tools and logs
- Tools such as strace, gdb, delve, perf
- Systems such as third-party applications, the kernel, logging pipelines
- Experience with linux fundamentals including pipes, signals, syscalls, etc
- Experience owning and debugging services without SSH
Other relevant technical experience includes:
- Common sandbox solutions such as seccomp, Chromium sandbox, usermode syscall virtualization (gVisor)
- Custom scheduling and multi-service coordination with Hashicorp’s Nomad and Consul
- Deep Linux/UNIX systems and Kernel knowledge
