The Job At-A-Glance:
We’re seeking a Software Engineer focused on creating monitoring and remediation, and configuration tools to join the Q2 Observability & Automation Tools team. As part of the Q2 Observability & Automation Tools team you will be working full stack across multiple technologies to build a framework of integrated systems and processes to make the configuration, management and support of the Q2 platform faster, easier and safer. You are a force multiplier empowering users and clients to do more, more effectively!
As an Software Engineer in Automation, you will help build full stack web applications, create tools for performing complex tasks, create automatic processes, perform data collection and analytics, and contribute to an API driven infrastructure to help keep up with the company's fast development pace. You will develop tools for both on premise and cloud-based services across a wide variety of platforms including Linux, Windows, VMware, AWS/GCP/Azure. You will be part of a team that enhances Q2’s existing tools and observability infrastructure and extends its capabilities to reduce operational overhead and risk across Q2.
We are looking for a proactive and highly self motivated individual that is as excited to go looking for new problems to solve as they are to solve them. In a senior role, you will be responsible for designing and leading solutions in conjunction with architects, project management, and SMEs as well as providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers across the team.
A Typical Day:
Responsible for ensuring that all security, availability, confidentiality and privacy policies and controls are adhered to
Design, implement, integrate, and test software solutions of moderate complexity comprised of Windows- and Linux-based front-end and back-end components that interact with end users and integrate with internal and external services
Work individually and collaboratively to deliver solutions in live production systems
Support, maintain, and resolve problems for custom features in live production systems, with occasional on-call availability
Actively contribute to the configuration, layout and performance tuning of the production infrastructure
Participate in the development of high availability and Disaster Recovery application architecture for applications in coordination with application engineers
Support upgrade and go-live activities related to new customer onboarding projects
Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings
Participate in projects while working with the workgroup to achieve defined goals within set timelines
Modify, maintain, and update software, performed through a practice of Change Management, Configuration Management and Release Management
Bring Your Passion, Do What You Love. Here’s What We’re Looking For:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in (relevant degree) and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience; or equivalent related work experience.
Highly Proficient in multiple modern object-oriented programming languages and an expert in one. (C# (preferred) / Go / Python)
Able to consume and develop RESTful API web services
Proficient in developing against various database back-ends, including SQL and no-SQL
Experience in Web development concepts and UI design.
Experience with Linux and Windows scripting, including bash/perl/python and Powershell
Experience with graphing and analytics tools (Graphite/Grafana/Splunk)
Experience with CI/CD deployment
Recent experience evaluating and solving business problems with code
Knowledge and experience in the fintech industry preferred
Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain patient with non-technical contacts
Knowledge of multiple infrastructure technologies including storage, network, backups, virtualization
Configuration management using Teraform and understanding of container technologies such as Docker
Contribute to best practices and programming standards using Git
Experienced with Agile sprint methodologies
Ability to think multi-dimensionally about problems and your proposed solutions and how a single change can impact entire environments.
Comfortable working in a complex collaborative group of teams
Desire to build solutions, frameworks for your solutions, and ecosystems for your frameworks
Highly customer oriented, enjoys both teaching to, and learning from, customers.
Ability to work on problems of diverse scope, where analysis of situation requires a review of identifiable factors
Must be able to exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate action
Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills to prioritize workload in a fast paced environment
Moderate-to-Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2008/2012
Moderate-to-Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting of Linux operating systems, particularly Red Hat or CentOS
Moderate-to-Advanced Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services and/or NGINX websites
Knowledge and troubleshooting experience of MS SQL Server 2008/2012 and MySQL databases
Experience with Systems Administration in Public Cloud Datacenters such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Experience with Configuration and System Management tools in support of Linux systems
Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA)
