The Opportunity

Our teams tackle problems of scale and works on cutting edge and open-source technologies. As a high-growth, e-commerce company, we are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer, with a heavy emphasis on backend services development to join our Platform As-A-Service (PaaS) Team. We will define, create, and operate Magento’s next generation application platform, which includes client experience, build and deploy workflows, production applications, and infrastructure.

You will be part of a collaborative team of avid learners and builders and leverage your expertise to deliver a highly scalable, performant, secure, and resilient cloud platform. You will be exposed to industry leading tools and live software life-cycle automation at scale!

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain features on our platform ranging from high quality Platform APIs to ecosystem integrations

  • Develop and implement automation to build, deploy, and orchestrate containerized infrastructure

  • Solve use cases that require close collaboration with product architects and engineers who specialize in design, front-end UIs, and compute infrastructure

  • Utilize modern engineering team practices - iterative development and continuous deployment: research, prototype, test, deploy often.

  • Engage fellow teammates on algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and engineering best practices.

  • Participate in the full development process, from design to operations – inclusive of availability, performance, scalability.

What you need to succeed

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of solid Object-Oriented Programming in Java or Python

  • 2+ years Technical Operations experience on high volume, large scale cloud applications

  • Strong expertise in one or more cloud-based providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Practical experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB, Postgres, etc.)

  • Possess strong software engineering fundamentals: micro-services design, data structures, and advanced algorithms.

  • Ability to help drive technical decisions within your team.

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent experience

  • Able to work independently with a positive work attitude and critical thinking. Self-motivated, collaborative, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of solid Object-Oriented Development in Java or Python

  • 3+ years Technical Operations experience on high volume, large scale cloud applications

  • Proven expertise in large scale cloud native implementations on AWS, Azure, or GCP products

  • Practical knowledge on industry leading Continuous I/D and Containerization practices

  • Expert knowledge in Cloud architecture and fault tolerant, highly available systems

  • Solid Datastore knowledge – SQL and NoSQL
