As a Software Engineering Manager you will lead a team of engineers that is delivering and supporting software that are critical pieces of the IdentityNow SaaS solution. You will work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Architects, Quality and DevOps engineers, and other Engineering Managers to continuously deliver value to our customers. In turn, you will develop and grow as a manager and leader of people. You will receive thoughtful coaching, consistent feedback, collaboration on your career path, and support to learn and pursue success for your own career. You will gain experience through shipping great software, and leading a team through a complex environment to support customers and deliver results for the organization.
What You'll Make Happen:

  • Lead SaaS projects from concept to implementation to achieve committed scope and schedule while managing x-dependencies and impacts.
  • Facilitate project activities by managing risk and issue mitigations, establish project schedule, and manage change controls.
  • Partner with Product Management to ensure your team has clear tactical and strategic backlogs
  • Balance competing priorities to ensure we effectively ship new features while resolving defects and managing technical debt
  • Recruit, coach, develop, and motivate high performing engineers
  • Proactively seek to listen and find alignment with other engineering teams and stakeholders by understanding your team's technology, building strong relationships, and insisting on high-quality solutions


About you:
You're a Software Engineering Manager with technical experience in building backend services, data stores and APIs. You have deep enterprise SaaS knowledge. You want what your team builds to be robust, reliable, and set the bar for quality across the organization. You can understand a team as a kind of system, and you know the best way to optimize it is by working excellently with people while also understanding the technology. You know how to find, hire and retain top talent to build complex software while coaching them on their performance and engagement with their team.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in a Software Engineering Management role on backend services exposing APIs
  • 5+ years of hands on experience as a Software Engineer
  • Deep knowledge of SaaS products, agile processes (Preferably SCRUM) and workflows, and experience implementing them
  • Technical experience and fluency at the architectural level, enabling easy discussions with engineers
  • Extensive experience architecting, designing, and programming applications in an AWS Cloud environment
  • Experience architecting highly distributed and available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability, and high availability
  • Supporting and developing containerized CI/CD deployment such as Docker Containers, and Kubernetes
  • Experience building and managing a team of Software Engineers
  • Good understanding of software development in Java or Go
  • An exceptional mentor and leader with a passion for continuous improvement
