Software Engineering Manager

For this specific role we are looking for a Mid Level Software Engineer Manager to help lead a diverse technical team following Agile methodologies. Our teams are working on both customer facing and internal initiatives ranging from user experience and storefront development to logistics, delivery and devops infrastructure. As a Software Engineering Manager you will provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to engineers and be responsible for creating a positive and productive culture while driving accountability and engagement to meet business objectives.

Daily Responsibilities (What You'll Do): 

  • Recruit, hire, train, track and mentor.
  • Advocate, evangelize and improve upon engineering & agile practices
  • Conduct weekly 1-1's, semiannual performance reviews and manage compensation
  • Provide honest, direct and detailed feedback to your team
  • Partner with Product Management and Design to maximize engineer effectiveness
  • Find opportunities to expose engineers to career interests
  • Translate business requirements into engineering technical and process actions
  • Collaborate with HR on employee experience and performance management
  • Create an inclusive, positive work environment
  • Communicate technical and strategic concepts to diverse stakeholders

Job Requirements (What You Have): 

  • 5+ years experience in a software engineering technical role
  • 2-3+ years direct experience as a hiring manager
  • Proven coaching and mentoring skills
  • A bias towards action and attention to detail
  • Mastery of modern software development best practices
  • Ability to thrive with ambiguous requirements in a rapidly growing startup

  • Understands how to coach engineers and collaborate with multiple teams to ship great software

  • Confidently able to manage 2-3 teams 

Preferences (Nice to Have's):

  • Experience with local / nearshore hybrid software teams 
  • E-commerce background experience
  • BS Computer Science or Engineering
