Duo + Cisco = Disco
With the Most Loved Company in Security and the global leader in network technology joining forces, there are more exciting opportunities than ever to be at the forefront of securing the cloud.
Our mission is simple: democratize security by making it easy and effective for everyone. We're transforming security from the ground up by solving the world's most pressing geopolitical challenge - safe, secure information access. We engineer our business to enable our customers to easily address their ever-evolving security challenges.
We believe that impactful work is rewarding work and that our team is at its best when everyone feels empowered to bring their whole self to work. We learn together by hiring for cultural contribution, not cultural fit, and recognize that diversity in background and thought are essential to building high-impact teams.
We invest in growth and learning opportunities and encourage our people to never stop learning. We foster collaboration and believe in being recognized (and rewarded!) for hard work. We champion a healthy work-life balance. We're kinder than necessary.
Together we build for the future by designing simple solutions for complex problems. And that's why we're the most loved and trusted name in security.
Who you'll work with...
As a Senior Software Engineer on our Data Platform team, you will be a part of the team responsible for the data and API backbones that power Duo's product and business. You will work in a team that brings together a diverse set of skills, experiences, and perspectives to solve the most pressing data problems at hand. You will also collaborate with a wide range of internal partners (Product Management, Product Design, Customer Support, Customer Experience, etc) to engineer solutions that unlock value for our customers.
What you'll do...
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to impact different areas of our work. You will create and improve paved paths for using modern logging infrastructure such as Kafka and Elasticsearch. That infrastructure serves our customers directly through in-product reports and APIs, as well as by supplying data to analytics use cases, and machine learning features like Duo Trust Monitor. You will also work on other related APIs and infrastructure for customer, product R&D, and business intelligence use cases.
A recent transformation of our logging pipeline used modern data infrastructure to unlock value for our customers. We are looking for a collaborative engineer to help us harness this momentum, and work with the team to build the next generation of APIs, infrastructure and reporting that enable us to democratize security for our customers.
Our engineers at all levels lead projects and initiatives and bring our teams along with them. We value inclusion, empower autonomy, and emphasize software craftsmanship. You embody our values and development culture of collaboration, democracy, testing, CI/CD, data-driven decisions, and mentorship.
Skills you have...
• Knowledge and love for programming in Python, or languages like Go or Ruby
• Experience implementing data pipelines and building out new infrastructure
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
Even Better if you have...
• Experience working with technologies like Kafka, Elasticsearch, Spark and AWS
• Knowledge of diverse database technologies such as MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch
• Experience with technologies like Terraform, GraphQL
• Familiarity with async frameworks like Twisted or asyncio
• Experience delivering quality software through automated software testing practices
• Good understanding of observability, monitoring, and alerting for applications
• Experience with performance and load testing to build reliable systems
• Demonstrated success as part of a distributed team
Reasons you should apply...
• You love collaborating with, teaching, and learning from high-performing peers
• You love to solve complex problems revolving around data
• You care about contributing to an amazing work culture of kindness and learning
• You prefer trying and failing rather than getting it perfect the first time
This job may not be for you if...
- Working for a company in hyper growth, where change is a constant, isn't something you are ready to embrace
- You prefer to work on your own (we are a team that pushes each other and learns together)
- You are scared of failing, fairly early and often
Does this sound like it was written for you? Excellent! Please apply and let's explore this together. Feel like you're coming up short in these areas, but think you could still knock it out of the park? Convince us why!
Duo is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of inclusion and connectedness. We are able to grow and learn better together with a diverse team of employees. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, innovation, self-expression, and talent that our employees invest in their work represents not only part of our culture, but our reputation and Duo's achievement as well. In recruiting for our team, we welcome the unique contributions that all potential candidates can bring in terms of their education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, gender identity and expression, nationality, age, languages spoken, veteran's status, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs.
And if this role is exciting to you, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all 100% of the description or qualifications.
Finally and most importantly, we are a proud Equal Opportunity Employer.
