The Manufacturing Engineer DFx is responsible for technical activities and processes required to develop validate and deliver cost and process effective hardware to Forcepoint customers.  The position is responsible for partnering with development engineering to establish / implement engineering disciplines and design guidelines that address time to market, design for cost, quality, test, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and safety.

Essential Functions

  • Work with engineering and operations to write, release, implement and manage department process and policy related to design DFx activities
  • Input and release product requirements, design specifications and design rules / guidelines for assigned projects
  • Knowledge of scripting in a Linux environment
  • Lead, participate in and/or support the following product development activities:
    • Prototype, Pilot, Pre-production, and Production builds and reviews
    • Design reviews
    • Design verification testing
    • Product validation and usability testing
  • Assist in project planning and provide design for manufacturing leadership
  • Research design options and perform experiments to determine most effective process and hardware that supports defined specifications
  • Interact with cross functional resources for DFx, reliability and cost-effectiveness analysis
  • Evaluate product non-conformances and recommend design modifications
  • Provide innovative manufacturing solutions

 

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • High degree of knowledge related to DFx rules and design processes for server / X86 white box electronics assemblies
  • In-depth understanding and experience in the design and implementation of experiments/tests and problem solving in diverse advanced technology coupled with strong NPI skills from a process perspective
  • Strong mechanical assembly skills
  • BS EE. In physical science/engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive relevant experience in a high tech advanced manufacturing environment
  • Comfortable and energized by working in a new, growth company environment and will be empowered to develop and drive policy and procedures
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the business
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with the ability to effectively prioritize
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
  • Knowledge of C.A.D tools preferred
  • Experience with confluence a plus

We are located in the North Austin area by The Domain, off of Braker between Mopac and 183. Our office patio overlooks Quarry Lake.
