Sr. Software Engineer
The IdentityNow team is looking for a performance analyst / engineer to help us improve the speed and capabilities of our software product. The performance analyst / engineer works in our Engineering group in Austin to load test, quantify, and propose patches and architectural improvements to how the IdentityNow stack operates. The aim is to minimize transaction times, minimize network latencies, minimize back-end operations, and expand the concurrency capabilities of the system.
Responsibilities:
Develop test programs, toolkits, documentation and conduct performance testing under a variety of scenarios for the IdentityNow platform.
Develop test cases, analyze, and extract best configuration practices from lessons learned.
Conduct stress testing of software and infrastructure, including simulating concurrent customer access.
Develop and expand existing testing frameworks to automate test cases and conduct benchmarks.
Work with other engineers and services team members to help them improve performance of their deliverables.
Publish results of performance tests and scalability assessments on internal reporting sites.
Support sales engineer's efforts with performance facts where relevant.
Train others on techniques and lessons developed from analysis of software and infrastructure behavior.
Work with the engineering team to develop measureable improvements in targeted areas of performance.
Required skills:
Bachelor degree or higher with an emphasis in Computer Engineer or Computer Science or related discipline (or additional 3 years of relevant work experience).
Fluency in an Object Oriented Programming language such as Java, C#, C++.
Experience analyzing the performance of web based applications.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with writing custom Java, Curl, or python applications for driving load.
Experience with Apache JMeter for calling into both custom REST APIs and HTTP transactions.
Understanding of AJAX, concurrency, and REST clients calling into a system.
Ability to quantify and express in written and graphical form the performance properties of a web application.
Preferred Skills:
Understand serial dependencies and where concurrency can help improve the performance of an application.
Understanding of server-side concurrency concerns, including mutual exclusions and locking.
Experience debugging the performance of SQL Queries and table design; specifically for MySQL.
Ability to reverse engineer an HTTP call sequence from Chrome and FireFox debugger screens.
Experience with Dynatrace (ruxit, etc) a plus.
Experience with Cloud Computing platforms including Amazon Web Services.
Understanding and domain experience in J2EE Web Application architecture.
Knowledge of network technologies (load balancers, switches, routers).
Familiarity with source code management tools like GIT and GitHub.
