Staff iOS Software Engineer 

Requirements

  • You have an ownership mentality and a consistent track record of timely delivery of high- quality software
  • You have skills in multiple languages, technologies, and frameworks and can quickly on- board to projects in minimal time
  • You’re capable of learning new technologies, processes, or business quickly and effectively
  • You approach problem-solving holistically and consider solutions through a combination of technology and process
  • You have an expert understanding of development methodologies and processes
  • You understand cross-tech stacks and scalability and reliability implications
  • You can coordinate work for a group of engineers on major initiatives
  • You have expert knowledge of system architecture and design patterns
  • You have deep knowledge about multiple technologies, including technology used at H-E-B
  • You have at least 3+ years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer, or comparable experience
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or comparable field, or equivalent self-study
  • You have expert knowledge in technologies such as Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, RxSwift, XCUITest, XCTest
  • You have expert knowledge of systems architecture technologies, including Android, iOS,  Linux, AWS, and Docker 
  • You’re an expert in build and release procedures (e.g., xcodebuild, provisioning profiles,  iTunes Connect) 
  • You have 7+ years of application development experience, including experience in Swift development and experience writing unit tests / testable code 
  • You comfortably work with RESTful APIs and skilled API query tools (e.g., Postman) 
  • You may have one or more publicly available applications in Apple’s App Store

What you’ll do (Design & Development)

  • Coach and mentor other engineers in engineering techniques, processes, and new technologies; enable others to succeed 
  • Make recommendations for overall application system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance 
  • Support the build and deployment pipeline and when necessary, both diagnose and solve production support issues 
  • Identify, scope, and architect solutions for new features while considering technology alternatives and all impacts / tradeoffs 
  • Work closely with Product, Design, and Backend to deliver world-class digital experiences 
  • Get the opportunity to stay ahead of new technologies with an eye to evaluating and potentially incorporating them into your team’s architecture; introduce new technologies that have ROI / influence  
  • Lead large initiatives within the team, including technical design / delivery of complex features across multiple systems as H-E-B improves the customer and Partner user experiences 
  • Recommend changes to processes and tools at the group / dept level based on industry standards, patterns, and practices
  • Influence others in technical decision-making and technology adoption within their domain
  • Diagnose / troubleshoot extremely complex issues independently
  • Develop technical roadmaps and lead engineers across one or more squads to deliver initiatives
  • Help grow Digital Engineering by driving execution of organization-wide activities
  • Identify ways to improve codebases, solutions to complex problems, and effectively propose paths forward to drive outcomes
  • Create documentation and training related to technology stacks and standards 
  • Operate with minimal direction to drive large-scale initiatives
  • Provide end to end support to applications
  • Build world-class mobile applications using a variety of tools such as Xcode, Git, Postman, zeplin.io.
  • Drive technology evaluation and incorporation into our platform architecture
  • Serve as technical and functional expert for iOS applications
  • Create application system designs
  • Solve complex application system errors and bugs; debug new / existing application systems
  • Apply detailed requirements to develop application code using various programming languages
  • Develop and execute test cases to ensure application accuracy
