Staff Software Engineer - Platform
About Us
Evernote, the world’s original note taking application, with millions of active users and billions of notes, is going through an exciting transformation over a decade into its existence. On the front-end, we’ve completely re-written our apps to be based on a common React JS code base that is hosted on Electron for Desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux) and ReactNative for Mobile (Android and iOS). On the back-end we’re reconfiguring our services from a monolithic stack into a rich and loosely coupled distributed services framework. All of this is to be able to deploy new features more than 5x-10x faster and more reliably than before, and the first few features will be going out in Q2 2021.
Come and join our rapidly growing team! Evernote is looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
What you'll do
- Design, architect and build distributed solutions at scale
- Break monolithic systems into a microservice ecosystem
- Guide and develop clean and reusable code for Evernote’s core backend software systems
What you’ve done
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Deep experience with Java, JavaScript, MySQL or another RDBMS, and preferably one cloud provider (e.g. Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Azure)
- Worked on microservice architectures and systems
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes
Who you are
- You are committed to writing reliable, scalable, testable and maintainable code
- You hold yourself accountable for delivering consistent results
- You are self-driven and self-sufficient
- You work comfortably with others, especially in different time zones
- You may have worked on monolithic system decomposition
We are committed to an inclusive and diverse Evernote. We believe that different perspectives lead to better ideas, and better ideas allow us to better understand the needs and interests of our diverse, global Evernote Community. We welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives and are an equal opportunity employer.
