As a Staff Software Engineer on our Advisors Business Line Team, you will be joining a talented group of seasoned engineers building the software to offer Bestow's innovative, fully digital life insurance products through traditional insurance agents. We cut a process that traditionally takes agents 4-8 weeks of client and carrier management down to 10 minutes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Through active listening, collaboration, and experienced intuition, set the team standard for engineering practices, to include: Code quality and security; System Design processes; Unit and integration test quality; Continuous integration and delivery; Tech debt management.
• Partner with Product Managers and other stakeholders to refine requirements, define solutions, and lead technical design interactions
• Support the team in working through blocking problems
• Write and test code in Go and sometimes Javascript
• Learn about the life insurance distribution model and disrupt!
• Peer review code and coach engineers to be their best
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to solve problems and raise the engineering acumen

ABOUT YOU

• 7+ years of software development experience
• Passionate about working with Golang or Javascript; prior experience in other modern languages is cool (e.g. Python, Ruby, .Net, Java, C++)
• Hands-on knowledge designing APIs (Protocol Buffers, RAML, Swagger, or OpenAPI)
• Highly experienced working with Docker, relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL), microservices, cloud-based infrastructure (GCP preferred), and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) systems like CircleCI
• BS in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Bestow does not sponsor applicants for work visas at this time)
