The Tier2 Operations Systems Engineer manages the operations of all systems related to operating systems, servers, storage devices and network in our hosted environment. Our Sys Admins demonstrate understanding of how software behaves in order to deploy, configure and troubleshoot systems. The Sys Admin researches new technologies and leverages optimization techniques to ensure that systems operate efficiently.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

· Build and maintain web, virtual, and client server environments for the enterprise

· Maintain the operations of all virtual, web, and client systems to ensure availability

· Troubleshoot and resolve any service issues related to operating systems and servers

· Partner with the infrastructure team to troubleshoot and resolve network related issues

· Implement and maintain a systems business impact assessment to prioritize system recovery in the event of a failure

· Train the technical support staff (Tier1/Ops Center) on solving common systems-related problems

· Build and implement software standards for servers, operating systems, and end-user workstations

· Ensure data replication and backups are running and failed jobs are resolved

· Leverage optimization techniques to maximize the efficiency of all computer systems

· Work with Engineering, third-party vendors, and consultants on developing system-specific skills

· Maintain response and resolution of cases/tickets received in queue against established Service Level Objectives

· Communicate status of requests and incidents with requestor or relevant stakeholders

 

Requirements & Skills:

 

· BA/BS degree in Computer Sciences, MIS, or equivalent experience

· ITIL Foundations certification or ability to obtain after hire is required

· Proven experience in past roles to effectively manage time, prioritize work, multi-task across many assignments, and creates deliverables with little direction

· Experience responding to events in multiple environments including Linux OS, Windows OS, or Citrix XenApp environments as well as cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and VMware VSphere cloud platforms

· Experience with relational databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server), enterprise SAN technologies, networking concepts (e.g. Systems, Protocols , Directory Services), and/or in-depth knowledge of iSCSI, FC, CIFS, and NFS maintenance and performance tuning

· Experience working with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality of such data and information

· Strong verbal and analytical skills
