We’re the team that’s responsible for managing reports surrounding Facebook’s policies and procedures, complex legal issues and the changing landscape of free speech on the Internet. We are constantly balancing mitigating legal risk with making the world more open and connected while scaling our operations to support Facebook’s 1.8 billion users. 

Our Tools Solutions team is responsible for building and maintaining tools and infrastructure used by our Intellectual Property and Privacy Operations teams to review reports of alleged infringement of legal rights, optimize for efficiency and growth, and integrate new features and products, to support and protect Facebook, rights holders, and users. We partner with multiple cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Design, Content, Legal, Operations, Policy, and Data to ensure support at scale. 

Facebook is looking for an experienced project manager who will be responsible for working with cross-functional teams, as well as teams within Intellectual Property & Privacy Operations, to develop support strategy and execute global projects from inception to launch. Successful candidates for this role will be incredibly passionate about improving the support experience for rights holders and users, as well as tools that IP Operations uses to support rights holders, users, and internal stakeholders. Must have an ability to work across different time zones and capable of using analytical rigor to identify and prioritize product and pain points. 

This role requires both a strong analytical and technical mindset. A successful candidate will be effective at leveraging these talents to help us achieve operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a tools and systems expert leveraging technical skills to drive infrastructure and tool development/improvements to successfully support operational needs

  • Build a solid foundation and knowledge in Intellectual Property policies to be able to effectively advocate for IP & Privacy Operations needs with key stakeholders (e.g., Product, Engineering, Legal, and other cross-functional teams)

  • Use signals from incoming reports of alleged legal rights infringements to identify areas for potential efficiency gains through tools and systems

  • Lead and drive tooling efforts and projects by developing a clear strategic roadmap, fosters cross-functional buy-in, and prioritization along business needs

  • Design and develop our tools and IP/Privacy Ops infrastructure systems to support reporting and scaled workflow

  • Design and develop front-end interfaces, underlying systems, routing and automation, and APIs across a number of high-level languages such as PHP, Java, JavaScript, Python, and Haskell

  • Utilize advanced knowledge of Hive and MySQL in order to build data pipelines for analytics and to support transactions using our respective tool databases

  • Effectively plan and collaborate on data driven projects to improve internal tools, systems, and data pipelines, and provide insights about behaviors and patterns to inform business decisions

  • Design and implement solutions that will scale significantly to support our user and rights holders' needs

  • Create and manage effective training and tooling documentation

  • Proactively communicate progress on projects and initiatives with team and cross-functional partners

  • Work with technical cross-functional teams (e.g. Tools Specialists, Infra, Engineering, Site Integrity, Product Engineering) to implement solutions that require many areas of expertise

  • Collaborate with our Legal team and act as the voice of IP operations to product, partnerships, sales and engineering as well as other operations teams

  • Develop skills in a number of different areas including project management and subject matter expertise in intellectual property policies

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience in software development and/or solutions engineering

  • 1+ years of experience with full life-cycle system implementation (analyze, design, build, test, implement, support)

  • 1+ years of programming/scripting experience with: SQL, PHP/Hack, Haskell, Python, Shell and/or XML
