ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE – HOME OFFICE – AUSTIN, TEXAS

Position Overview:
The Accounting Associate is a professional member of the Finance team and reports to the Accounting Manager. The primary responsibility is to support Wholesale and Retail back office operations and to ensure financial goals are achieved while supporting overall company initiatives. All below responsibilities are for specific categories owned.
Responsibilities:
General
• Prepare routine and non-routine journal entries
• Work with cross functional teams such as Retail Operations, Wholesale, and Loss Prevention on daily basis
• Assist month end accounting close process
• Assist Manager on any other related accounting tasks as needed
• Assist the AP Team with administrative duties such as check preparation, mail sorting and scanning
Wholesale Support
• Daily review and classification of Wholesale invoices and payments generated through the Shipping and Fulfillment function
• Create and send multi store invoices for assigned Wholesale major customers
• Receive and process checks, ACH and wire payments daily and ensure proper application
• Work closely with Wholesale customers to keep customer accounts reconciled and answer inquiries as needed
• Investigate, dispute, process and apply as necessary all customer chargebacks, shortage claims, and discrepancy claims with a goal of minimizing claims and chargebacks
• Daily review and classification of all credit memos generated through Customer Service and/or Receiving function
• Responsible for maintaining a current and accurate Monthly AR Aging Report through customer friendly collection practices and consistent monitoring/reconciliation of accounts
• Prepare weekly AR Aging Reports and communicate to Manager and Wholesale Sales Team
Treasury Support
• Support Senior Accountant in preparation of bank account reconciliations
• Manage the armored car service
• Monitor change orders and initial cash orders for new locations
• Record monthly gift card activity for employee appreciation and collaborate cross functionally to ensure proper approvals are obtained and teams adhere to internal policies.
• Collaborate with Retail locations and Customer Service to investigate and resolve lost gift cards and other related issues
• Reconcile retail store cash deposits with deposit logs maintained by store with POS system reports
• Support Senior Accountant with other ad hoc requests
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
• 4 Year College degree required: B.S. Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow up are critical
• 1+ years of experience
• Support cross-functional teams
• High level of experience using Excel and other tools to analyze data
• Experience posting journal entries
