Role: Accounting Manager-Agency

Location:  Dallas, TX or Austin, TX

Reports To: Director, Entity Controller

About This Role

We are searching for a highly-motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager with a focus on our Joint Ventures to join our global Accounting team. The role is hands-on and will work cross-functionally with other departments in the organization. You will be joining a stellar accounting team. This person will be working directly with the Director, Entity Controller to ensure the integrity of accounting information by researching account issues for compliance and by establishing quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and well supported journal entries, account reconciliations that form part of monthly close accounting cycle and financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions
  • Support in preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
  • Analyze financial information and summarise financial status
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Prepare and provide support for the preparation of audit schedules for external audit
  • Be integral to the month-end and year-end close process
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies

Requirements

  • Active CPA with 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial and analytical roles.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Insurance Industry exposure is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with general accounting, month-end close procedures, eliminations and consolidations, controls, internal reporting & analytics, and working with external auditors
  • Good knowledge of US GAAP; conceptual and practical experience in researching, understanding and communicating technical accounting issues and conclusions
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, accuracy, ability to work independently and multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Excellent Excel/spreadsheet skills, competency with MSWord and PowerPoint
  • Technical proficiency with one or more corporate financial/enterprise software packages. Hands-on experience with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Team player, works well within a group, happy to take on responsibilities outside your role when needed
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand the business
