Within the Capital Management division, Debt Capital Markets manages the financing process on behalf of Amherst’s own $2 billion+ balance sheet and across its ventures and funds. Core products include secured warehouse financing, senior and mezzanine term financing, public and private securitizations, and seller financing. The team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to play a key role in the structuring and execution process of debt financing in both the private and public markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Debt Capital Markets team in risk evaluation, transaction negotiations and internal processes to optimize pricing and structuring.
  • Provide analysis to help determine appropriate financing terms and covenants
  • Prepare presentation and marketing materials, including request for proposals, lender diligence, model outputs, and structuring objectives for lenders, senior leadership, and Board of Directors
  • Support structured finance transactions, including valuating, accounting, third party engagements
  • Anticipate senior team needs ahead of planned investor meetings and prepare materials accordingly
  • Coordinate work product with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory parties
  • Help prepare client presentations for meetings with investment partners and potential lenders
  • Assist with rating agency interactions, ensure compliance with and reporting on debt covenants on outstanding securitizations and private debt financing
  • With Investor Services and FP&A, facilitate reporting processes, controls, and cash flow forecasting
  • Validate accuracy of reporting for internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and/or CFA a plus
  • 1-3 years in structured finance or debt capital markets at an investment bank or credit hedge fund
  • Skilled at business modeling in Excel; strong Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint

  • Understand deal structuring, structured finance and/or real estate financing
  • Think commercially, strategically, and creatively; interpret and present analysis thoughtfully
  • Deliver excellent work product in a timely fashion with high attention to detail
  • Collaborate well with others and develop strong relationships
  • Deal with ambiguity and comfortably navigate through complex tasks with little guidance
  • Prioritize and manage multiple deadlines to deliver a quality product under tight time constraints
  • Be solution-oriented when presenting problems
  • Seek out, understand, and follow developing industry trends
