Workrise is hiring an Assistant Controller to be responsible for contributing to and managing the financial statement close process and internal control environment of a growing, fast paced technology company headquartered in Austin, Texas. Workrise is looking for ways to improve efficiency and this role will be responsible for driving forward and delivering these efficiencies through process reengineering and improvement, enhanced reporting, and collaboration across business functions.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned manager, with outstanding problem solving and people management skills. The position oversees a talented accounting team in the US and reports to the VP of Accounting.
Our Accounting team at Workrise is part of the overall Finance & Accounting group. What you’ll be doing:
- Manage the month-end close functions for Workrise corporate and supervise the corporate accounting team
- Responsible for leadership, development and growth of the Corporate team, including goal-setting and performance reviews
- Review and manage completion of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analysis, including effective use of FloQast
- Identify and execute departmental efficiencies and improvements to the close process
- Assist the company in implementing SOX controls and ensure compliance with applicable internal control policies and procedures
- Support internal and external audits and serve as a key contact in the audit process
- Work cross-functionally with other groups to foresee potential accounting issues and recommend practical solutions associated with business transactions
- Research accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
- Monitor issues impacting the end-to-end financial close process, anticipating risks and process bottlenecks in order to drive critical escalations during close with cross-functional teams
- Lead the development of monthly close reviews in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Help drive initiatives to reimagine the orchestration and automation of the GL and consolidated close processes to align and scale for future growth
- Identify, implement, and lead projects to promote process improvements, efficiencies, and business transformation within the Finance department, and throughout the organization as it relates to the end-to-end financial processes & controls
What you should have:
- Certified Public Accountant, Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Audit experience
- Prior management experience
- Seven+ years of relevant experience
- Netsuite experience a plus
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment
