We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director of Actuarial Services (Medicare) to join our team in a newly created role within our newly formed Actuarial Services department. In this position you will be part of the global financial team, supporting various parts of the organization with particular emphasis on new business opportunities and global operations through medical economics. 


This position could also be based in St. Louis (MO), Chicago (IL), Brooklyn (NY) or the Bay Area, San Francisco.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

  • Lead and own generation of actuarially sound methodologies, reporting, and processes for Medicare value-based risk contracts
  • Partner with finance, analytics, and clinical leaders across the organization to understand and project savings, including designing the approaches and mechanisms to track
  • Contribute to development of overarching actuarial strategy, automation initiatives, and support of other healthcare programs (e.g. Medicaid, Commercial)Collaborate and communicate effectively with broader teams to influence new deals, contract negotiations, and translate business requests into data-driven solutions
  • Independently perform actuarial and analytic analyses to solve business problems and apply judgment appropriately
  • Use historical population level data to create predictive quartiles of performance outcomes (costs and utilization) and model various risk-based arrangements/mechanisms to assess the overall risk of value-based care deals
  • Build and update multi-year pro formas, forecasts, and IBNR reserves for both new and live value-based risk contracts
  • Communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences with limited guidance, including leading group discussions with primary working groups within product

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Deep knowledge of concepts and methodologies in healthcare, including experience working with health insurance claims data sets
  • Mastery of excel and other modelling software
  • Experience building processes/systems from scratch
  • Excellent communication skills with comfort presenting to executive audiences
  • Able to work in highly matrixed environment that is heavily team based in getting results
  • Experience supporting provider and value-based risk contracts, such as CMS/CMMI and ACO models with downside risk (e.g. Direct Contracting, MSSP, AIM)
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience; 3+ years of Medicare experience
  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries), or equivalent international designation; MAAA (Member of American Academy of Actuaries), or equivalent international membership
