Our Portfolio Management team sits at the center of the action, serving as leaders and collaborators with every function that serves the lifecycle of our investment products. We seek a highly motivated individual to play a key role in execution of portfolio optimization for our many investment vehicles invested in single-family rental (SFR) properties. We communicate with leading institutional investors daily and must articulate our strategy and performance well. We are subject matter experts in many areas of the firm – including venture strategy, asset management, debt optimization, cash management, financial reporting and performance, valuation, and valuation attribution. This high visibility team serves as the internal fiduciary for investors –working across all departments to ensure key messages, analysis, and strategy implementation result in optimal portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a detailed understanding of the Amherst Residential ecosystem, including sourcing channels, disposition channels, investment strategies and the steps of value creation
  • Engage with teams across the Amherst organization, including research, technology, asset management, portfolio management, and field operations, to achieve financial and operational success
  • Utilize statistical and mathematical tools, probability theory, and optimization methods to properly allocate assets across the portfolio
  • Oversee fulfillment of contractual purchase orders based on remaining committed capital, time and market conditions
  • Assist in development of scalable infrastructure to drive decision making using technology and business intelligence tools
  • Participate in investor portfolio reviews to understand each investment strategy’s fundamental profile relative to guidelines and to understand optimization initiatives implemented by each portfolio management team
  • Work closely with senior leadership to own reporting to the Amherst Residential Investment Committee and Board of Directors
  • Build investor-facing presentations and support on transaction execution as needed
  • Conduct and prepare quantitative and qualitative business analysis, partnering with the Financial Planning & Analysis team to deliver financial reporting (pipeline update, forecasts, senior management updates) and effective budgeting

Qualifications:

  • College degree required; CFA or CFA in progress is a plus
  • 4-7 years of experience with Bachelor’s in investment banking, private equity, consulting, or trading
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Experience with quantitative investing and portfolio construction
  • Mature knowledge of business modeling in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of programming and common data visualization tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau is a plus
