Facebook is looking for an accounting leader to take charge of U.S. GAAP accounting and reporting responsibilities for all leases and facility-related asset investments. This individual will continue building and leading a team of highly motivated and skillful accounting professionals to become the center of excellence for in-scope area accounting, process improvement and system automation efforts. This highly qualified and technically proficient leader will also stay abreast of Facebook’s business and growth strategies, external compliance requirements and the overall financial reporting risk profile as growth continues. The candidate needs to be comfortable and highly effective in a rapidly changing environment, working well with cross-functional teams and their leadership as well as finance and accounting counterparts in multiple geographies, providing guidance, analysis and helping make decisions, and developing effective and efficient accounting operations to execute Facebook goals. This position will be based in Austin, TX, reporting to the Infrastructure Controller in Menlo Park, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively seek solid understanding of Facebook growth strategies by engaging with various business and finance leaders

  • Anticipate business needs as related to lease accounting and asset capitalization considerations

  • Develop high profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions and layers of the business while demonstrating mastery of U.S. GAAP and understanding of local statutory reporting requirements

  • Provide sound accounting guidance as a trusted advisor and develop scalable business processes to meet both business and financial reporting needs with speed

  • Lead a high-performing team responsible for managing operational accounting for the company’s global lease portfolio and facility investments

  • Lead accounting operation includes but not limited to compliance with internal controls over financial reporting, lease contract reviews, lease identification, classification, amendment/modification, facility asset life cycle accounting, recording, reporting, reconciliation and 10Q/K disclosure

  • Comply with Facebook’s lease accounting, capitalization policies and update them as needed

  • Maintain adequate documentation when significant judgment is made in accounting for complex arrangements

  • Initiate, develop and execute additional process automation and system capability roadmap by closely working with Facebook’s Engineering, BizApps or service provider teams and to explore robotic process automations and AI technology opportunities to scale operations

  • Coordinate with international statutory accounting and tax teams to supply required transaction data for statutory and local tax filing needs

  • Work in close coordination with other key Finance organization leaders in treasury, FP&A, internal audit, technical accounting and finance operations to optimize for common team goals

  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audit requests, and aid in the research and analysis of audit issues raised

  • Lastly, this leader will also be the people manager for Austin-based Infrastructure Accounting team

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or Finance

  • CPA or equivalent outside of U.S.

  • 10 + years of financial statements auditing, accounting, finance operations, process automation or related experience

  • Accounting knowledge and hands-on implementation experience in adopting the new lease accounting standard, ASC 842

  • Organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and prioritization experience

  • Experience developing and leading large-scale accounting process, including experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders

  • Experience in automating, optimizing, or re-designing processes to support business growth

  • Experience analyzing large data sets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big 4 experience

  • Experience in the Real Estate industry, e.g. construction and property leasing

  • Experience with Oracle Financials or other major ERP systems and Hyperion

  • Telecommunications industry exposure, e.g. fiber optic network, colocation, peering arrangement
