Core responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the preparation and presentation of financial statements and risk analysis to the VP, Operations.
  • Owns the company ledger and works directly with the VP, Operations to formulate budgets and investigates all material favorable and unfavorable variances.
  • Ensures all financial processes align with GAAP and state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the accounting department and ensures that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Proactively analyzes financial data and creates reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties, such as vendors or lenders.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records and acts as the primary point of contact to external auditors and tax preparers, ultimately responsible for all PBC deliverables.
  • Develops new internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for all accounting processes across the board from cash and credit management to foreign currency translation.
  • Has the ability to drive the team’s performance by identifying and selecting talented individuals in the hiring process as well as drive promotion readiness by clarifying expectations, setting objectives, identifying goals, providing actionable feedback, and evaluating results.
  • Demonstrated the ability to effectively coach direct reports to find solutions to challenges encountered along with the ability to drive retention by creating an environment that fosters high eNPS scores.
  • Demonstrate ownership in all domain areas in terms of expertise and maintaining best practices through process refreshes, internal control design, and new tooling with an ability to rally adoption across the team.

Desired qualifications:

  • CPA required
  • Advanced degree in Accounting, in addition to a Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience, including people management
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of accounting systems, expense software, MS Excel, revenue recognition, purchasing, and reporting
  • Prior start-up experience is preferred
  • Experience with managing outsourced contractors, consultants, and service providers
  • Experience with Quickbooks and Commercial Banking

Additional +1 qualifications:

  • Proven track record of designing and implementing accounting processes, policies, procedures, and documentation and reporting
  • Experience with building and effectively managing an accounting team
  • Experience supporting multiple business-unit P&Ls and cost accounting allocations
  • Experience with Expensify, Mavenlink, Tableau, Carta, and Salesforce
