Vrbo is seeking a Data Analyst to be part of our Global Finance Trading Team at its headquarters in Austin, Texas.

You will provide data insights and financial support to the Global Retail Trading Team and be a key player in the commercial side of our business, working with other Finance, Accounting and Retail groups,

and periodically liaising with the executive leadership team. This includes influencing and driving investment decisions through robust analysis and reporting, with a specific focus on automating and streamlining the reports outside of excel.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, design and implement automated reporting outside of excel to be used by cross functional trading teams and the greater Vrbo organization. The expectation is that this report is in a web based application.

  • Be a Vrbo Finance data guru - be the point of contact for all data questions and insights in your respective area

  • Partner with internal stakeholders – both technical and non-technical – to answer complex business questions 

  • Through data mining and analysis, developed problem statements and corresponding hypotheses which are then proven through analytical insights and ultimately lead to operational or financial improvements 

  • Monitor key corporate and stakeholder specific metrics daily, quickly identifying areas of concern and proposing deep dive focus areas or corrective actions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and key quarterly/ annual objectives

  • Support financial modeling and business case creation and monitoring

  • Robust and deep analysis and reporting of business metric trends

  • Utilize existing data warehouse(s) and influence future data marts including design, organization, and structure

  • Help guide with in-quarter financial management process

Who You Are:

General Skills:

  • Extremely high attention to detail where accuracy is the top priority 

  • Passion for number crunching, logical problem solving and intellectual challenges

  • Ability to structure / work on data exploration problems, with a scientific mindset, innovative approaches and creative solutions, leveraging strong reporting and data visualization skills

  • Flexible with changing priorities, be skilled at prioritizing effectively and handle changes comfortably

  • Able to work across different business divisions/countries to communicate findings company-wide

  • Strong organization skills, and some ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

Technical Skills:

  • Intermediate SQL knowledge

  • Intermediate level Tableau knowledge

  • Intermediate Business modeling skills using Excel 

  • Beginner level R, Python or other coding language

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's in a Finance or an analytical field (e.g., Marketing Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics) and 2+ years of experience in data analytics

  • Background in relevant area – Finance/Strategy – is a strong plus
