Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for owning the forecast, budget, variance analysis and related financial models. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple projects in a high-growth, dynamic and fast-paced environment. The Director knows what it means to be agile and understands the importance of flexibility in their approach. The Director enjoys helping their business partners find the optimal solution. The Director is intellectually curious, takes pride in being detail-oriented while understanding the big picture, and has strong financial modeling and planning experience. This role is part of the Finance team and offers the opportunity to help grow and develop the FP&A team. The Director will develop cross-functional relationships with executive staff, sales, operations and analytics.
Areas of Ownership:
- Own the financial and headcount models which includes ongoing maintenance, review and evolution as the business evolves
- Own the monthly and quarterly forecast and related variance analysis
- Lead monthly headcount planning with recruiting and senior leadership Drive annual and long-range budget and financial planning
- Analyze causes of variances, and flow through findings to the forecast Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
- Propose action items on findings such as additional analyses to perform, reports we can create or other ways to improve business performance and decision-making
- Work closely with teams across all departments to identify needs for reporting and analysis and leads projects to completion
- Direct preparation of weekly and monthly management reports and analyses
- Own weekly cash forecast projection
- Direct and review the preparation and submission of commission calculations for bi-weekly payroll, working cross-functionally with analytics and payroll
- Prepare payroll reporting and analyzes payroll variances to plan and forecast
- Lead monthly close process including review of financials, variances and provide feedback
- Oversee ad hoc projects and business analysis as needed
- Develop and implement FP&A best practices, procedures and processes
The Ideal Profile:
- 8+ years of relevant finance experience (FP&A, investment banking, private equity or management consulting); experience at a technology or other high-growth company a plus
- Minimum 1 year with director level experience or 3 years as a manager of a team
- BS Degree in Finance or Accounting Strong analytical skills; enjoys dissecting problems; approaches problems from different perspectives to suggest and implement solutions
- Deep understanding of GAAP and overall accounting principles, FP&A, budgeting & forecasting, financial modeling, and reporting
- Highly skilled in building financial models and forecasts
- Experience with KPI reporting; identifying metrics and developing dashboards
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally

- Expertise with Google Doc Suite a plus
- Experience with SQL, Oracle, Adaptive Insights, Cognos TM1, Tableau or other business intelligence systems a plus
