Director of Internal Sales: Build Something Meaningful

Role Summary:

Lead CrowdStreet's direct marketplace investor sales team to grow our community of accredited investors, foster investor engagement, and drive investment campaigns, using a combination of high-touch relationships and scalable technology-enabled solutions.

The Director of Internal Sales will build and launch our new direct marketplace investor sales team, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Marketplace Operations, Investor Services, Capital Markets, Investments, Marketing, Investment and Wealth Services, Legal, Compliance, and Product Development. This is a new role that will report directly into executive leadership.

The Success You'll Build: Primary Responsibilities and Impact

  • Build a scalable "high touch" investor sales team to accelerate time to offer and offer size for active deals on the Marketplace.
  • Continuously expand and deepen our relationships with current and prospective CrowdStreet investors and provide consultative sales through a range of activities including live and virtual investor events and the creation of education and market update outreach campaigns leveraging Marketing materials and our Investment Thesis to generate prospective interest in deals scheduled to launch.
  • Partner with our Growth Marketing and Investments teams to drive increased investor acquisition through highly targeted campaigns.
  • Build the data insight and reporting processes - leveraging the CrowdStreet data warehouse and reporting tools - to ensure actionable, real-time insight to support targeted campaigns and achieve measurable results.
  • Partner with Marketplace Operations to ensure CrowdStreet delivers on estimated raise for any given deal including strategizing on potential investors for outreach, actively selling, and accelerating time to offer.
  • Finally, this role is above all things a leader of people. The successful candidate will bring exceptional strengths in leading and developing high-performing teams - being a thought partner to peers, an example and mentor to employees, and a developer of emerging talent that reinforces CrowdStreet's values every day.


The Experiences That Will Help You Succeed:

  • 15 years experience in direct investor or customer relations with at least 5+ years of experience leading and managing investor relationships and investment product sales and services teams, with at least two years at a FINRA-registered broker.
  • Demonstrated success leading a team to serve an extensive portfolio of high net worth clients, with a track record of expanding customer relationships and high customer satisfaction
  • Experience identifying and managing innovative, scalable solutions to complex challenges to support CrowdStreet's mission to deliver the best online real estate investing experience and make it easy for individual investors to diversify their portfolios
  • History of using internal data to create and deploy sales and marketing campaigns that identify, target, and sell to warm customer leads
  • Professional experience with alternative investment products, ideally private offerings (equity) in real estate, venture capital, or private equity
  • Outstanding leadership skills grounded in collaboration, teamwork, and respect.

The Competencies You'll Need:

  • Required: SIE (Securities Industry Essentials), Series 7 (General Securities Representative ), Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent), and Series 24 (General Securities Principal).
  • Series 79 (Investment Banking) is also required but may be completed during the first 60 days. Candidates who have a Series 9/10 (General Securities Sales Supervisor) instead of the Series 24 are eligible, subject to completion of the Series 24 during the first 60 days.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, or economics preferred. MBA is desirable.

We operate in a hybrid work model. You can work from home in any of the 27 states where we currently have team members. You can work from our HQ in Austin, TX. Through our partnership with Industrious, we also provide access to CrowdStreet-paid, local co-working spaces.
