Provides leadership and oversight to global Business Performance Management teams. Oversees the development, interpretation, and implementation of financial concepts for financial planning, analysis, and control. Leads efforts to interpret and assess financial performance metrics, monitor existing and new store performance, identify profit and sales drivers, and develop recommendations for financial performance improvement and cost control. Advises company and regional leadership on financial and performance planning, investment options, finance-related decision-making, and strategy development.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees significant aspects of Business Performance Management activities and processes
  • Partners with Regional President and all regional leadership on operations and finance matters to identify profit drivers and maximize economic value added (EVA)
  • Engages with regionally embedded financial leaders and Team Members to support ongoing execution of investment / growth projects and ensure safeguarding of company assets
  • Responsible for presenting tactical and strategic solutions. Leads financial reporting and analysis work to provide company leadership with information and tools to clearly understand financial results
  • Performs ROIC analysis for capital investment decisions
  • Prepares profitability projections and analysis for new stores
  • Supports functional efforts to understand the impact of and respond to changes to WFM business drivers and organizational structure
  • Spearheads financial and related analytical, management, and analysis projects company-wide
  • Leads gain-sharing training and goal setting
  • Leads the evolution / improvement of the labor branding programs
  • Spearheads financial and key performance indicator knowledge and training initiatives throughout the organization
  • Leads / actively participates in key implementations, including: inventory replenishment and budgeting / forecasting system, cost file accuracy projects, and Store Operations tools, etc.
  • Ensures a comprehensive set of controls are in place to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of reported financial results, and ensure compliance with GAAP and international reporting standards
  • May support and/or oversee due diligence and integration of acquisition or related investment activity

  • Participates in the design and execution of succession, replacement and individual / team development processes
  • Develops deep, credible relationships with senior-level executives, both inside and outside current areas of responsibility
  • Serves as a trusted advisor internally and externally from an Accounting & Financial management perspective
  • Engages with senior-level stakeholders to define, clarify and resolve issues related financial reporting, analysis and understanding
  • Engages with other leaders to formulate the organization’s long-term strategic direction
  • Defines strategies and approaches to empower and equip leaders to be effective in their interactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Identifies gaps in strategic understanding, formulates resolution recommendations and delivers clear and compelling communication
  • Shifts comfortably between big picture strategic thinking and the tactics required to achieve outcomes
  • Influences broad organizational strategic direction and planning on a go-forward basis
  • Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant task and project activity
  • Identifies risks and vulnerabilities, creates contingency plans
  • Conducts regular and ad-hoc reviews with team, stakeholders, partners and customers
  • Oversees and advises other leaders on task- and project-related issues and assists with overcoming barriers
  • Demonstrates nuanced understanding of the WFM business, food retail industry and the business models of key strategic partners and competitors
  • Able to assess how key functions, processes and operating models impact business and financial performance; delivers recommendations on how to optimize
  • Able to “connect the dots” across markets, customers, partners and programs to identify interdependencies and long-term growth opportunities

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 8-10 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • 4-6 years’ leadership experience
