Responsible for developing, interpreting and implementing financial concepts for financial planning, analysis and control. Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, investment activity, customer deals, trended future requirements and operating forecasts. Develops, implements and monitors financial performance metrics, existing and new store performance and profit and sales drivers. Ensures development and distribution of reports / recommendations relating to financial and performance planning, investment options and related decision tools.

The eCommerce Finance Team is growing and adding a Finance Manager level role to support a quickly evolving multibillion-dollar online grocery business. We combine the fast pace of a start-up with the established best practices of a large company, while enjoying the benefits of Whole Foods’ close-knit culture and Amazon’s business expertise. This role serves as a financial advisor and guides the business in making important decisions that impact the strategic direction of the online operations. You will work closely across both Whole Foods and Amazon, including senior leadership, while becoming an expert in the grocery eCommerce space. In addition, the broader Global Finance team is committed to creating opportunities for growth and development. By establishing new partnerships and processes, you will have a measurable impact on the long-term strategy of our eCommerce business.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive strategy:

  • Act as an internal consultant to support program managers and other key business leads to help drive decision making through a financial lens
  • Partner across the business to gain an understanding of the business levers and develop opportunities to drive value into the organization
  • Distill complex financial information into actionable insights to support program decisions: develop business cases to support investment decisions, build financial models, analyze trends, ad-hoc modeling

Contribute to the forecast process and multi-year business plan:

  • Collaborate on revenue, margin, and OPEX planning for key forecast cycles, using a customer funnel approach to develop the revenue plan
  • Own strategic business case development
  • Ensure forecast accuracy across multiple financial systems

Support financial and business reporting:

  • Support weekly, monthly, and quarterly business and financial reporting
  • Prepare clear and actionable written financial commentary that explains the drivers of the business
  • Investigate variance drivers through partnership with cross-functional stakeholders and create action plans for resolving any identified discrepancies

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Advanced understanding of Financial Planning & Analysis concepts, principles and practices.
  • Excellent ability to compile, monitor, and examine financial statements, reports & accounts.
  • Excellent understanding of multiple reporting and Accounting and Financial systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Workday, Tableau, Everclear & other WFM reporting tools.
  • Able to identify improved methods of performing database management, manipulation and analysis.

  • Leverages knowledge of customer, market and industry trends and emerging challenges to make business improvement recommendations.
  • Demonstrates exceptional knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base and retail operations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

BA/BS and/or Master’s degree and 6-8 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Education in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Marketing or Economics preferred.
