NextAdvisor, the fast-growing personal finance brand published in partnership with TIME, is hiring an editor to launch and develop a new site section serving an audience of side hustlers, business owners, and independent contractors looking to raise their income as a means of achieving financial independence. 

NextAdvisor is a source of both information and inspiration, so we prefer a candidate with experience in service journalism as well as a knack for telling compelling stories with fascinating characters. This editor will manage a staff writer, assign to freelancers, develop editorial plans, and be responsible for the creative and operational strategy of this site section. This editor will also lead the development of digital courses and live workshops focused on educating and connecting aspiring entrepreneurs. 

Knowledge of personal finance is preferred. Experience launching or and running a business or side hustle is helpful, as are skills in audience growth strategies and digital course creation.

Many of our team members are based in New York and Charlotte, but this role can be filled remotely.

What You'll Do:

  • Assign, edit, and write enterprising journalism that fits the editorial standards of NextAdvisor and TIME
  • Own the creative vision and operational strategy of our entrepreneurship coverage, producing work that contributes to timely conversations and helps readers make informed decisions
  • Manage a full-time writer and freelancers, setting their daily priorities and developing their reporting and writing skills over time
  • Cultivate a network of freelancers and contributors who bring diverse perspectives and expertise
  • Develop learning products and online communities that inspire and connect entrepreneurs

What We're Looking For:

  • 3-5+ years of editorial experience, including management and coaching of writers
  • Superb research, writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the entrepreneurial space, including a network of freelancers, influencers, and experts
  • Ability to adapt and pivot 
  • A willingness to work and manage team members remotely
