NextAdvisor, the fast-growing personal finance brand published in partnership with TIME, is hiring a writer to help launch a new site section serving an audience of side hustlers, business owners, and independent contractors looking to raise their income as a means of achieving financial independence. 

This writer will be responsible for pitching, reporting, and writing stories that inform and inspire a diverse community of entrepreneurs. This writer will work closely with an editor to produce service-oriented news, compelling profiles, and actionable tips and guides. This writer may also contribute to the creation of digital courses and educational workshops.  

NextAdvisor is a source of both information and inspiration, so we prefer a candidate with journalism experience, as well as a love for telling compelling stories with fascinating characters. Knowledge of social media best practices, audience growth strategies, and digital course creation is helpful. Experience working in a newsroom environment is preferred.

 Many of our team members are based in New York and Charlotte, but this role can also be filled remotely.

What You'll Do:

  • Pitch, report, and write high-quality articles that fit the standards of NextAdvisor and TIME
  • Contribute to the editorial and operational strategy of our entrepreneurship coverage, 
  • Cultivate a diverse network of sources, experts, and contributors 
  • Understand key engagement metrics and how to integrate audience feedback into your work

What We're Looking For:

  • 1-3 years of editorial experience
  • Superb research, writing, and reporting skills
  • Consistency in meeting deadlines, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritizing workload
  • Ability to adapt and pivot
