What you’ll do

  • Oversee all aspects of Cloudflare payroll processing, including bi-weekly payroll, manual checks, and terminations, as well as processing of all employee payroll changes (status changes, new hires, deductions, etc.)
  • Responsible for the team's accurate and timely payrolls for all countries in compliance with local tax and labor regulations, including variable pay, stock, or other supplemental or non-recurring pay runs, and ensuring timely tax deposits.
  • Manage monthly payroll close and prepare for management reporting deck.
  • Perform analytical reviews of payroll information, as needed, to ensure accuracy, including but not limited to: bi-weekly payroll, usage of paid childcare leave, bereavement leave, jury duty, vacation, sick time, etc.
  • Provide hands-on support for all payroll reconciliations in support of month-end close activities.
  • Perform trend analyses on compensation data, employee headcount, pay, variable compensation, overtime and special programs to identify and provide early visibility to organizational needs and budget risks.
  • Review all Quarterly and Annual Tax filings, including Forms W-2, addressing any exceptions and errors prior to finalization
  • Prepare for and manage payroll related audits (workers compensation, retirement plans, etc.)
  • Verify that all garnishments and levies are completed in accordance with the law.
  • Stay abreast of payroll legislations impacting Cloudflare and coordinate with appropriate internal and external parties to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth understanding of payroll requirements unique to non-US entities to support compliance and serve as a resource to other Cloudflare departments.
  • Vigorously safeguard all employee and payroll confidential information.

Systems

  • Implement and administer time reporting systems and processes to ensure the proper setup of overtime and the timely collection of employee hours for processing in the payrolls
  • Verify state and local tax information is set up correctly in payroll system and maintained.
  • Serve as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for Payroll and Time-tracking System(s).

Policies, Procedures, and Internal Controls

  • Partner with HR to implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective workflows to improve the payroll cycle, including new hires, terminations, time tracking, time off, etc. driving toward implementation of best practices and business process improvements.
  • Support overall organization’s SOX compliance requirements through adherence to key controls and timely completion of reporting.

Team and Project Management

  • Manage, motivate, and develop staff within the Payroll team. Partner with Corporate Controller to design and maintain an organizational structure appropriate for supporting Cloudflare’s current and future business needs.  
  • Perform staff management and administrative duties including training. Manage staffing and budgetary requirements and set department performance standards.
  • Perform special projects and analyses as assigned.

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • CPP Designation strongly preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience overseeing Payroll functions in a high volume environment
  • Exposure to international operations preferred
  • Experience participating in system evaluation and implementation preferred
  • Experience processing and reporting on equity
  • Proven ability to develop and sustain a department that is poised to meet the changing needs of the company

  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Creative problem solving skills coupled with good judgment
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written, in order to research, prepare and present information to Management, as well as effective communication skills with co-workers

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, provide leadership, and take initiative under minimal supervision
  • Intermediate Microsoft office skills.
  • Comfort in a fast paced work environment, with multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Ability to plan, execute and deliver on projects in a timely manner; plus the ability to multi-task on varying projects and initiatives.
  • Very high attention to detail; organized and thorough with a desire for continuous improvement.
  • Stellar work ethic.

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location. For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $97,000 - $119,000.
