About the Role:
Self Financial is looking for a Head of Insurance, you will be responsible for managing the Self Insurance Agency offering personal automobile and other personal insurance products to Self-customers. You will work directly with the Self-management team to provide value add insurance services to the customers while fulfilling the Self mission to increase the financial health of its customers. You will be responsible for insurance product messaging, managing vendor partners, managing the insurance team and the P&L and the overall success of the insurance business.
You will work in a highly collaborative yet autonomous environment where we celebrate our customer's successes and thrive on reaching our own internal goals. This role is located in Austin, TX and may be eligible for remote work.
What You Will Do
- Manage the overall day to day operations of the insurance business
- Develop and manage relationships with preferred Insurance Carriers
- Manage, develop, and maintain Agency licensing and compliance
- Work with marketing to develop the messaging and content of the insurance offering the target the appropriate Self customer eligible to save money on their auto insurance based on the increase in credit score from other Self products
- Manage the insurance content within the Self Marketplace
- Manage the conversion rate and retention rate of the insurance portfolio
- Develop the plan for adding additional personal insurance products which will benefit the financial health of the Self customers
- Follow risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities
- Recruit and lead the hiring of new team members. Own all HR aspects for your team, including performance improvement planning
- Report KPI successes and challenges to the leadership team. Report metrics on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
- Establish a shared vision across the company by building consensus on priorities leading to a short term and long-term product roadmap
What You Bring
- 5+ years of insurance agency management experience selling personal insurance products.
- Personal P&C Agent License in at least one state, Texas preferred, and the ability to get licensed in all 50 US States.
- Managed teams of at least 4-6 team members overall
- Critical thinker. Problem solver. Team builder.
- Proven ability to manage insurance portfolios for growth
- Experience working with outsourcing vendors ideal
- Strong business problem solving instincts
- High EQ and ability to build rapport with team members and stakeholders
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong ability to adapt in a fast-moving, startup environment
- Comfortable collaborating with other employees that are remote during COVID
