Cart.com is looking for a Payroll Manager to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing to pay salaried and hourly employees, address pay questions and resolve payroll issues, and compile payroll information by managing payroll preparation, completing reports, and maintaining records. Develop and document repeatable and scalable payroll processes cross-functionally with other People and Accounting team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain payroll information by designing systems; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
  • Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, pay and accrual groups, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
  • Address time and attendance discrepancies, outstanding timesheet approvals and time off request answers, and penalties from not observing local meal and rest break requirements with managers and employees.
  • Pay employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
  • Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Work with Accounting to maintain accurate job costing records in time and attendance for work billable to clients.
  • Balance the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintain payroll staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintain payroll staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Our headquarters is located in Austin, Tx at the address listed. The majority of our roles are flexible hybrid for employees who live within the cities where we have offices and remote for employees who are not located in those cities.
