Senior Commissions Accountant
Q2 is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant who will focus on sales commissions and other incentive compensation for the company. We are looking for someone who is hardworking, motivated, and able to interact with inter and intra-departmental team members professionally. This candidate must be focused, intelligent, detail-oriented, hands-on, dependable, able to multi-task, a fast learner, and able to have fun while working in a fast-paced environment.
As a senior accountant, you will own sales commission and incentive compensation accounting and operational processes, including commission and bonus calculation, payroll oversight, disbursements process improvements, and general ledger account reconciliations. Additionally, you will support audit requests and filing requirements of a public company. You will use Xactly Incent to set up the commission plan calculations and process sales data for crediting and paying commissions. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams such as HR, Finance, Sales Operations, Systems, and Sales Management.
The ideal candidate will also have experience with Xactly, Salesforce.com, NetSuite and be proficient in Microsoft Excel as well as have an understanding of sales compensation plan design. #LI-199612366_ET1
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Annually set up new compensation plans; including testing system updates, configuration changes, calculation accuracy
- Own set-up of sales data in Xactly Incent for new hires, promotions, and terminations.
- Calculate commissions in Xactly on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for submission to the payroll team. Administer draws, MBOs, quarterly bonuses, and SPIFF payouts
- Review and record the commission amortization calculated in Xactly CEA on a monthly basis to the GL. Ensure commissions expense and deferred commissions are being accounted for in accordance with US GAAP and the company’s accounting policy
- Calculate and record the bonus accrual on a monthly basis
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations and close procedures for incentive compensation accounts
- Calculate monthly, quarterly, and annual quota attainment results and produce quota attainment and expense analysis for sales director/leaders
- Work with and provide data to FP&A analyst for budgeting and forecasting of commissions and pending payouts
- Act as the subject matter expert on commissions to address sales inquiries and partner with Sales Management, Sales Ops, HR, and/or Accounting to resolve any issues
- Initiate, improve, and create efficiencies in systems and procedures
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
8+ years of combined relevant accounting and sales compensation experience
The ability to work independently and be a team player
Proven experience working in a team under pressure to meet deadlines
Attention to detail combined with the ability to communicate the “big picture”
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
Familiar with ERP and CRM systems (ie. Salesforce, NetSuite)
Proficient in Excel
Working knowledge of Xactly and Workday a plus
Commitment to accurate payment calculations and patience in fielding sales inquiries and requests from the sales team
Interest in understanding how IT systems and workflows are designed
