Whole Foods Market (WFM) attracts people who are passionate—about great food, about the communities they live and work in, about how we treat our planet and our fellow humans—and who want to bring their passion into the workplace and make a difference.
The WFMOA (Whole Foods Market on Amazon – eCommerce program) Finance Team is growing the team and adding a Senior Financial Analyst role to provide business support on activities such as forecasting, business reviews, and routine reporting to support a quickly evolving multibillion-dollar business. Under the guidance from the Finance Manager, the SFA will partner closely with both finance and operational partners from Whole Foods and Amazon to put together analysis and commentary to speak to business performance and ensure financial accuracy. This role will have high exposure to Amazon and across Whole Foods, working with dozens of business partners on a regular basis.
The successful candidate will be energized by being able to establish and create new processes and will be comfortable working with ambiguity while bringing their own perspective to the group. Effective business partner support and being able to ask the right questions is just as critical to success as having solid technical skills. Due to the broad scope of the WFMOA Finance Team, the SFA will need to be able to tackle multiple projects, execute on deliverables, balance meetings with working time, and be able to effectively manage through priorities with the Finance Manager.

Responsibilities:

Own and support all aspects of preparing for regular weekly/monthly/quarterly Business Reviews:

  • Ensure P&L accuracy
  • Prepare clear and actionable financial commentary
  • Investigate variance drivers through partnership with cross-functional stakeholders

Contribute to the forecasting process (including revenue, margin, and some expense):

  • Familiarity with a customer funnel approach is a plus
  • Ensure forecast load accuracy across multiple financial systems

Reporting/ FP&A rotational secondary role:

  • Partner with business leads to assess reporting needs and build out new reports
  • Support broader finance organization with reporting

Other:

  • Proactively engage the team in identifying and addressing risks and provide potential solutions
  • Attend and contribute to meeting discussions, leading conversations as necessary
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis as needed
  • Provide written commentary as needed to support various business documents

General Qualifications:

  • Retail, grocery, or eCommerce experience strongly preferred, with solid understanding of key retail concepts
  • Minimum of 4 years’ professional experience in a corporate FP&A (non-accounting) or equivalent business role
  • Demonstrated career progression and increased scope of responsibility
  • Creative and independent thinker with proven ability to identify and tackle complex problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively across audiences and across multiple levels of leadership
  • Skilled at using numbers to tell a story and recommend a course of action
  • Desire to constantly improve and question the status quo
  • Positive attitude, ability to work well and fast under pressure, and exceptional customer service attitude
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to travel as needed

Technical Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid understanding of P&L and GL accounts, preferably across multiple companies (this business owns and manages a full P&L including allocations)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in both P&L-facing roles and business reporting roles
  • Modeling experience preferable: revenue forecasting, margin forecasting, or other retail-related modeling
  • Experience in Enterprise Performance solutions: Tableau, Workday Financials, Cognos, and Adaptive software a plus
  • Strong written communication skills
