Remote or 1400 16th Street, San Francisco or one of our regional offices located in Seattle, Boulder, Irvine, and Cambridge

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

Invitae is seeking a Senior Manager of Mergers & Acquisitions and Technical Accounting. Ideally, this position will be based in our San Francisco headquarters, but flexible to work from our regional offices. Minimal travel may be required (when future conditions permit). 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assist in the preparation of mergers and acquisitions documentation
    • Prospective financial information
    • Opening balance sheet procedures
    • Assess the potential synergies
    • Collaboration with corporate development, business and operation team members
    • Review of agreements
    • Project plans and timelines
    • Coordinating with SEC reporting on quarterly and annual financial reporting matters related to M&A
  • Be a key liaison with corporate development, legal, external valuation specialists, and external audit for business combinations and asset acquisitions
  • Be part of the due diligence team and collaborate with the operationalization team
  • Lead key technical accounting research 
    • Prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner related to business combinations
    • Monitor previous acquisitions for impact on current period reporting
    • Monitor development in accounting and financial reporting
    • Provide US GAAP interpretation; and
  • Direct and assist in various ad hoc projects when needed

WHAT YOU WILL BRING: 

  • Eight (8) plus years of experience with CPA certificate and Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
  • A proven record of excellence in mergers or acquisitions transactions role
  • Significant public accounting and previous financial due diligence experience
  • Excellent analytical skills and confidence to translate complex data into meaningful insights
  • Hands-on leader who’s resourceful, has interpersonal communication skills, including written communications, and has a proactive, forward-thinking mentality
  • Ability to be flexible, work independently, and act as a team player with a superior attention to detail
  • Capability to be a key participant in the SOX documentation and requirements for the M&A/Technical Accounting team
  • Tech savvy proficient
  • Team player yet able to work independently
  • Composed under pressure
  • Experience in life science, healthcare industries, technology, or diagnostics segment preferred but not required

WHY POSITION IS OPEN:  
Expanding the mergers and acquisitions and technical accounting team due to growth, particularly with multiple pending transactions in 2021.

DEPARTMENT STRUCTURE:   
This position will report to the Head M&A and Technical Accounting, with high visibility throughout the organization.
