Senior Revenue Accountant
BigCommerce, named a "Best Place to Work" in Austin in 2017 is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Revenue Accountant to own and oversee all revenue-related processes for the Company. What You’ll Do
- Manage monthly revenue accounting close efforts, including deferred revenue and accounts receivable reconciliations
- Perform detailed review and analysis of monthly revenue reports to identify potential issues and ensure revenue recognition is in accordance with company policy and GAAP
- Perform budget-to-actual and month-over-month trend analysis for all the Company’s revenue streams to identify potential issues and ensure proper revenue recognition
- Review and evaluate contracts to identify complexities and ensure corresponding revenue is recognized in accordance with GAAP
- Research and resolve revenue, deferred revenue, and/or accounts receivable discrepancies with a focus on automation and process improvement
- Work with various departments and stakeholders to assess new business initiatives and/or revenue streams to ensure proper controls and processes are established and revenue is recognized appropriately
- Perform technical accounting research where necessary to ensure proper compliance with GAAP
- Assist in the year-end audit process, actively working with external auditors to provide relevant support for recognized revenue, deferred revenue balances, and accounts receivable balances
- Assist in providing revenue-related data and analysis as required by management and internal business partners
- Assess impact of the new revenue standard to Company and help implement processes for compliance
Who You Are
- 5+ years experience either in corporate and/or public accounting
- 2+ years experience with SaaS revenue recognition
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting
- CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
- Very strong technical accountant, proficient in US GAAP, especially as it pertains to revenue recognition
- Experience with SaaS-based accounting and business applications (experience with Zuora a major plus)
- Ability to research technical accounting issues and provide appropriate recommendations
- Self-starter and detail-oriented problem solver
- Highly analytical, with ability to dig into large amounts of data
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent communication skills
